This seems like great practice for aspiring captains. Gotta direct the ship's pilot while spotting for the gunner and leading a moving target. Not easy work for sure.
Might be interesting if they ad a PT boat as well, instead of a cannon a pair of torps to threaten bigger ships and some tripod mounts, maybe even based off the hull of the GB. It will be interesting to see how the use of these boats develops for river operations too, could be a powerfull raiding force if its able to get near logi roads or train tracks near the coast or rivers.
In my (arguably pretty limited) experience, it's good to have one spotter scan far while the other watches the target and directs guns and formation. That way you always have someone who can call out approaching enemies.
Hey I was there that night at Stema Landing shortly after this video (I assume) we were the other random Warden Gunboat that arrived and aided in the costal bombardment.
