An amazing baptism of fire for my first hunt in Kansas!
I arrived in town on Friday and brought with me the rain from the east coast. We woke up to snow on Saturday morning.
I had predicted a great weekend of hunting and some doubted me... Good thing the hunt and hounds provided.
Mission Valley Hunt's opening meet is something I will never forget. Thank you to everyone for making this happen.

When I was a kid in Eastern Pennsylvania/Northern Maryland there was fox hunting.

You haven't lived until you've foxhunted Love it. Rode behind the masters. One of my best memories, the masters had to leave the hunt. And the 1 told me to be master, as I knew the terrority, & the rules. But every hunt is a joy. Me ,& my love (horse). A gift from God.

How many acres/ miles does one of these events cover? I’m curious how big of a piece would be needed to have a hunt. Also, does anyone do a hunt style like this for coyotes? We have a big invasive coyote problem in northern New England

Fort Leavenworth had about 15,000 acres to hunt. Mission Valley had 800 acres at their hunt club with other venues to hunt I believe. Neither hunt I went out with in Kansas were live hunting, they just chased. Open to correction though! As far as I know most NE hunts just chase.

You need a large area. To keep it challenging, & interesting. Horses cover a lot of land in 4-5 hrs.

This might be a silly question but are activities like this open to black people ? Or would you say the majority of these activities don’t really like black participants

Open to everyone. Horseriding is not a traditionally popular sport with people of colour from what I can see so even few would participate in hunting. Where I’m from in ireland we don’t have much diversity so that would be a reason you don’t see many non white equestrians.

@@J.T.Equestrian yes I really want to but I’m scared of being scorned by others cause of my race, I really love watching these videos online and dream of doing it in real life but I really wouldn’t want to be a outcast when out and riding.

@@Moony.fairyy I wouldn’t let that stop you. There’s people like that in all walks of life. Join a local Facebook group and get some locals advice.
