BONUS ⚫NEWCASTLE - 1 (0.43) V 🔴SOUTHAMPTON - 0 (1.95) for the comments section: Newcastle : ⚫Isak (0.36 xGI - 0.00 xG, 0.36 xA) - 90 mins ⚫Hall (0.04 xGI - 0.00 xG, 0.04 xA) - 74 mins ⚫Gordon (0.04 xGI - 0.00 xGx, 0.04 xA) - 74 mins ⚫Livramento (0.00 xGI) - 90 mins ⚫Burn (0.00 xGI) - 90 mins Southampton : 🔴Diaz (0.89 xGI - 0.81 xG, 0.08 xA) - 75 mins 🔴Armstrong (0.77 xGI - 0.70 xG, 0.07 xA) - 90 mins 🔴Harwood-Bellis (0.02 xGI - 0.00 xG, 0.02 xA) - 90 mins The game was ruined by a Schar-head-lean-in red card that VAR failed to overturn so we learned little about the NEW attack and the competitive 24/25 potential of both sides. Burn and Isak both got 90 whilst Livra remains a worry with Trippier still lurking. Gordon owners shouldn't worry about minutes but only about his torrid away form, historically. For the Saints, Diaz was heavily involved but couldn't convert (2 shots, 1 key pass) whilst Armstrong managed 5 shots to no avail and most of the play ended up at his feet. 90 min runout for H-B is what owners wanted to see. Definitely didn't accidentally remove this section in the final edit before upload. 🥴 EDIT: Jota should be 80 mins not 90 (my error). Elanga and Aina were 53 mins a piece too (data source was wrong on those last two).
Very grateful I came across your channel, you’re by far and away the best FPL content creator in my opinion. Keep producing these and your channel will boom
I'm still fuming at that Eze robbery & then watching Mbuemo score just minutes later was peak fpl. Thanks for the content & I'd love to see a gameweek 2 guide if you have the time.
@AidanH1996 Cheers! Yes, was watching live and looked away after the obscenity of that disallowed goal, and then Bri Mbuemo smashes it in at the other end, ridiculous.
Your really onto a winner here with these reviews. Please do them every week. I've watched other review show over the years. FPL family. Above average. Always cheating. Id say about 20% useful insight and 80% talking about themselves. Their gw, personal opinions on players. A lot of ego on display. Where as your video is like 100% insightful useful. All the info I need in a neat 40 mins. Something I would love is like a 3/4 week overall review. Where we see the accumulated data, so we get a better picture of the trends. Doing a great job spear! Keep it up
@samwilliams4244 Thank you, Sam! Also, great suggestion, I'll consider that. That's the catch at the start of the season - we have no significant sample sizes.
Hi Spear, keep up the good work! I was just wondering which football club do you support in the EPL? I am an Arsenal fan and hope we win the title this year. 🏆
Hello Emerald, great to see you here! Unfortunately, I am a Manchester United fan. Your team is looking strong again this year. Surely a cup for them and a challenge for the EPL title. Must have been nice to see Kolašinac play for the Gunners a few years back. Džeko got me a fair amount of points over the years when he was at Man City.
Glad I found your channel recently. It really helped me to pick my squad and plan for my WC after GW5. Got 72 points with a Haaland only draft. Thinking of triple capt for him on GW2!!
Really appreciate your in-depth analysis and informative summation of the gameweek. Very happy with my team and their performance to start the season. Many thanks to you Spear for providing some great points through the past couple of weeks which really helped to inform a few decisions - let's hope we all have a great run this year :)
@RichardDD999 thanks! The first fixture was always a bonus for any ESR owners. GWK2 and 3, you will gain a better judgment with those strong fixtures and better fitness.
Great rundown. As for holding off on tranfers, im worried about a Quansah price drop and him getting perma benched. I was planning on relying on him early doors. So would be rough.
@TheChewsta Cheers! That's a fair worry, and I feel the same way. I think we will have a clearer picture after Brentford, and if he starts, he could easily get a 6 pointer. There is no need to panic yet. Scout the other 4.5s for now.
I would never have advocated for going without either in preseason. I think both or one of are viable. This week, Haaland is the stronger week - it's whether he can match and outscore Salah from last week and the early run of matches. Rough start for non-Salah owners for sure.
Pinned it in the comments! Gordon is fine to hold and long term should perform more consistently. Jota has the better fixture in isolation this week. I'd hold for now, your call.
I thin Slots point for subbing out Quansah was he was losing aerial duels which he was. I dont think he was singling out youth considering VVD is best aerial defender probably in the world. Im looking to avoid price drop and ive gambled on Colwill due to fixtures and minutes. Also another 4.5m mid to note is Sangare at NFO played 90mins.
@dierianrigg you are correct! My data source was actually wrong on that one, I thought it was earlier... 53 mins for Elanga and Aina. That's unlucky. Murillo is the nailed one there. Could have happened to Williams, too.
If you don't have Robinson then he's a fine swap. But if Quansah plays and keeps doing so, I'd still rather have Quansah long term. Best to evaluate after Brentford. If he's dropped then for sure it's time to ship.
I'm on the fence for -4 to bring in 2 x city players. Salah> Doku/Bernardo Havertz>Haaland OR White> Gvardiol Amad> Doku / Bernardo Don't want to loose Salah but I have Jota & TAA
I like your videos but the way that red logo looks on my for you page makes me think it’s a live show and I twice about clicking. Not sure if that helps for the channel
If you can bench and play a strong starter this week, just do that. Allows more minutes for scouting him. Rogers significantly better GWK3 onwards though (ARS this week means it'd be a pointless move right now).
@peterjohnson5872 had them all at one point, ended up with zero in the final draft. It's a really rough start for sure but I'd stick to your original plan. 3 and 6 are the big fixture swings to reassess.
@la_ramadhana hold for sure. No one bought him for Man City. He's better than Neto and Felix too, just needs consistent game 10. Should play 10 with Felix false 9 and Neto RW.
@chung-hinma89 as I said in the video, I think he will get dropped once they have a fully fit side. Plus the poor fixtures and it being an outlier statistically. Casemiro had similar for example.
Hi Spear, love your content but I don't know where you got your stats from but some don't seem right. Jota definitely didn't play 90 minutes for one. Also I thought Quansah was awful, appreciate thats just an opinion but Delap absolutely dominated him
Thanks! I read the minutes wrong, yes 80 minutes not 90 for Jota, my error. You can check the Quansah v VVD first half stats here: theanalyst.com/na/2024/08/ipswich-vs-liverpool-stats-premier-league-live Click on chalkboard at the bottom, 'First half' and then the blue icon on both teams. Then select only VVD and Quansah. Beats VVD in every defensive metric bar 1 I think.
@@speardrops sometimes the stats can be deceiving, especially for small sample sizes. Also sometimes the stats can be wrong, I've checked 3 different places for the Garnacho miss and they all have different values, OPTA had it at .11XG
@lukesanderson1277 they can be for sure. That's why I mentioned in the vid how poorly the xG stat reflected that chance for Garnacho. Same goes for Roger's shot with effectively no keeper there.
