Although there are good reasons to go for a GW4 WC (price changes, injuries etc.) most drafts I’ve seen are basically trying to get close to a GW6 draft with the fixture swings for Brentford, Arsenal etc. Begs the question, is it better for most managers to just wait until GW6. I still think holding Fulham and Liverpool mids, Trent, Isak etc is fine for now.
@@Jorritwit if the team is a mess and no transfers to sort it, it makes total sense this week and a lot of teams will be like that. If your team is okay though, I think it’s okay to see out the good run for Newcastle, Fulham, Brighton, Liverpool etc and then get rid of them in 6 for Arsenal, Brentford etc. Bringing in Arsenal, Brentford, City, spurs or Bournemouth players for bad fixtures in the next two could backfire.
Why not favour another liverpool midfielder instead of havertz/mbeumo, where you roll the transfers until gw6 and use the free transfers to bring them in later?
because I do think Mbeumo feels close to essential on 6+. Pre-booking too many transfers always causes issues imo so there needs to be a bit of a balance
Not too dissimilar to my team. Pre wildcard Steele Sanchez Gvardiol Porro Kosta Barco Johnson Salah Gordon Bailey Minteh Amad Haaland Isak Wood Wilcareded Alison Fabianski Robertson Porro Davis Mazraoui Kosta Salah Mbeumo Mitoma Semenyo Rogers Haaland Havertz Wood
Very nice draft. I’ve got similar thoughts and picks. Differencies are Pau Torres instead of Konsa, Gabriel for Porro and Semenyo for Mbuemo. But I’m leaning towards the last one. It saves me a transfer in future because I defly want him from GW6.
@@FPLFran Obviously but you can always put punt or two with WC as long you have your routes planned, you know this. Early season also makes it even better. Whatever team needs tbh, putting money aside is just fine if its few games. 4% picked currently and two good games sounds amazing to me. Expect Eze to do well and if Mateta gets going it can do really well. Think people who WC early should push for the diff picks who have the upside potential. Not watched any models but my guess is that Mateta isnt that bad on those too, even though they prob rate him lower cause Palace early season games
Nice draft Fran. I think you’re right to have Arsenal in there because having 0 would be tricky to pivot to 2-3 even with FTs because you’ll be sweating on having no injuries or rotation risks cropping up beforehand. I WC last week and kept 2 Arsenal assets in Raya and Havertz with freedom to bring a third in GW6 either Saka or Gabriel/Saliba
Hi Fran, i think it is great one of the best i have seen so far and i have some concerns over the goal keeper i still think you can introduce Martinez to the team and replace rogers with Amado Onana
i wildcards before liverpool’s match as i had no haaland. Currently got flekken henderson - lewis konsa robinson konate keane - mbeumo semenyo salah diaz eze - haaland joao pedro welbeck and 2.5m in the bank. Plan to bring in havertz and saka in gw6 for diaz and welbeck
Hello Fran . Good morning from Poland. Thank you for this lovely timely wildcard draft analysis. What do you think about getting Bowen instead of Mbeumo due to better fixtures ?
Hello Fran . Good morning from Poland. Thank you for this lovely timely wildcard draft analysis. What do you think about getting Bowen instead of Mbeumo due to better fixtures?
with this draft as mentioned you can go to a 4.5 gk only (Flekken), or go a 4.0 defender. Next plans are mostly to go Saka from Salah on 6 and to use a potential 2nd FT to upgrade a Minteh or a defender.
Who should I pick: D. Jota or L. Diaz? Same price, it looks like Diaz is in form but Chiesa and Gakpo is fighting for his place AND he has international games in South America so will probably miss out on first game at least when he returns, probably will be used in CL instead my guess. Also, I don't believe Nunez will play ahead of Jota anytime soon as Jota seems to be so important in the their build up attack.
@@alijuddy5362 Semenyo is great from GW6 but if you are already carrying Mbeumo and Havertz (with poor fixtures) it might be hard to have Semenyo as well. I agree though that double Brighton attack is too much for only 2 good fixtures before a difficult run
@@FPLFran Ok, so you would bring him in on a WC and get rid of him already in GW 6 or 8? I see several people say he can be rotated with a Bournemouth player, but I just see two teams with several very risky fixtures until GW 10 and 11. I mean they’re not the only ones playing harder fixtures, and injures/benching/resting if others might force owners to play them in those hard fixtures. I know risk and reward, I just consider the risk higher than the potential reward.
Weird one to answer. I feel FPL is the type of game where using the word optimal to discuss draft structures isn't best. Every gameweek I think you can create a completely different structure that can be close to optimal too, it's certainly not a binary discussion. For GW4+, I do love the structure.
@@FPLFran Articulated my thoughts in a much better way there… totally agree. And in the next few weeks with more information, our thoughts may change again.
Because FPL works in 50% profit only. For example if Rogers was to be bought up and his value rises to 5.8 million, if you sell him you'll get only 50% aka 5.4 million.
because you get 50% of the increase but it actually works as every 0.2 increase you gain 0.1 in transfer value. if you have halaand from the start and try selling him now, you would notice you will get 15.1 instead of 15.2.
I think 4 is better because you can catch the easier fixtures from some team then move to the fixture swings in gw6 via free transfer. The way I'm currently set up is similar plus if game week 4 and 5 I do well I'm even willing to take a -4 for game week 6
@@alcidescollins9126 you could easily be right. Also a chance team value goes up more w a WC in 4. My team looks pretty close to this and I don't like to WC and plan transfers but you definitely have a point and may be making the right move
@@FPLFran The Fulham defense is exactly impressive, but the worst seems a tad bit harsh when we got teams like Everton and Wolves. Not including Ipswich here as they have played very herd fixtures.
Very nice team, but I personally would preffer to downgrade minteh into adama and then buy raya + 4.0 gk and do not rotate. Rest of the team looks perfect
totally fine to incorporate chelsea. Just the game where if you move past a cry(h) game it's less tempting to go for more CHE assets. I don't mind a Colwill though
Saka can keep pace with Salah points wise, but you’ve got an extra 2.5 mil to play with. Having Salah and Haaland massively unbalances your side, they blank one weekend you’re screwed.
not sure if I agree with you on this. You can move between players like Saka and Salah when swings allow. Having set opinions on players and structure, and not playing fixtures probably leaves you more 'screwed' imo
