I just came upon this quote: "When uncertain about God’s will, it is very important that we tell ourselves: ‘Even if there are aspects of God’s will that escape me, there are always others that I know for sure and can invest in without any risk, knowing that this investment always pays dividends.’ These certainties include fulfilling the duties of our state in life and practicing the essential points of every Christian vocation. There is a defect here that needs to be recognized and avoided: finding ourselves in darkness about God’s will on an important question . . . we spend so much time searching and doubting or getting discouraged, that we neglect things that are God’s will for us every day, like being faithful to prayer, maintaining trust in God, loving the people around us here and now. Lacking answers about the future, we should prepare to receive them by living today to the full." - Fr. Jacques Philippe, p. 55
Aleah B HI! :) I am so glad it helped! It helped me too, along with the video. I forgot I had even posted that; it was so long ago! Jesus help you in your discernment! Remember: "God's will never lead you where his grace will not protect you." and of course, “I know God will not give me anything I can’t handle. I just wish that He didn’t trust me so much.” - Blessed Teresa of Calcutta
Haha very good to keep in mind. I have ocd and tend to run over scenario after scenario in my head over what I need to do until I've worried myself to a point where I can't do much of anything. It really helps to have verses or quotes from the saints to go to for clarity. :)
Hahahaha! Fr. Mike, you are such a guy. I have three brothers and five sons so I should know. Duty, not doody. Thanks for making me laugh and of course for the excellent advice. God Bless you Fr. Mike!
Discernment is process of finding out the answer to "what am I called to?" To be "called" to something is that God would like to put you in this particular place or path, so that you can be happy and help participate in His devine plan of salvation.
Discernment is knowing that God has better plans for each of us. Be not afraid, as Jesus would always say. Ask the Holy Spirit what God the Father needs me to do. Being "called" is to do what God calls you to do every single day, every moment and every opportunity. Make sure to discern if it's coming from the good spirit. You will know, He will lead you. Ask your Guardian Angel and St. Raphael the Archangel. Ask our spiritual Blessed Mother Mary for the grace to discern well.
