first and for most speed of light is faster than speed of electrons in copper wires ,secondly in copper wires electrons moves which makes atoms vibrate whch results in loss in form of heat now since accelerating charges create electromagnetic fields therefore two copprer wires carrying signals without much protection can interfere which can create disturbance for users.
