Good to see you, Raj! There's a blog I think you might like called Raiders of the Lost Scent, which analyzes different fragrances and their reformulations. The post they have on Kouros is well worth reading, and could tell you more about the bottle you've obtained. It's a fascinatingly complex perfume, and one that I feel the method of application makes more of a difference in how it wears than most others. I spritz it in front of me and walk through one or two sprays like that, which I prefer to direct sprays. Do you feel like the Balenciaga bears any resemblance to the vintage Kouros?
Yeah I love Raiders. Such a great wealth of information and I’ve read the Kouros article. Can’t say I’ve picked up on similarities to the Balenciaga but I’ll wear it more and see. Thanks for the tips on how to spray it on.
Nice one Rajiv, I jumped to the ones I know - Drakkar Noir, not heard that since the 80's! And Kouros too. I think I had Noir once, I remember that black bottle. You are inspiring me to put on some fragrance, and actually look after my appearance (Celine has to tell me to change my clothes, and most of the time I probably smell of beer, food and sea water ;-)
Thanks, Neil. Yeah maybe pick up a new bottle of Drakkar. There are some fragrances that have marine notes and are called aquatics so maybe you’re saving a few quid by jumping in the sea!
The first time I saw Caron's L'Anarchiste on a local retailer website, I thought it read as Antichrist 😅. The bottle is really nice. And I hope to get a sample of both Balenciaga Pour Homme and Gucci Nobile one day.
Nice haul mate! Gucci Nobile is the best aromatic fougere I'd ever come across and i really treasure my bottle, simple as that! I have a sample of a 1988 vintage batch of Kouros and it's insane! To me the best Kouros flanker is Eau de Sport..
