Two years ago I was at a hole in the wall fragrance shop and I found that had a bottle of Aventus that was a 2017 batch. I thought I hit the jackpot. I sprayed it and found out it wasn't all that great. I have since sampled newer batches and I can't really tell much of a difference between the older and newer batches. In my opinion Aventus is way overhyped and overpriced and it always has been.

I can't smell aventus on me after half an hour. For a £200+ fragrance I want it to last all day if not then lower the ridiculous price because it's not that special it's no better than Sauvage to be honest.
@Seasniffer69
@Seasniffer69 Год назад
@@Mr.Owl777 aventus used to be half the cost it is now. That's the reason. It's a badas frag. But it's definitely priced itself out for me. A frag that expensive needs to have some projection/sillage well into hour 6

My biggest regrets? Buying several of the super popular nuclearly hyped frags such as Spicebomb Extreme, Prada Luna Rosa Black, and any of the Dior Sauvages. Many people love these frags but to me I can't stand having them on my skin. Spicebomb Extreme - get it the f*ck off me (I DO like the OG Spicebomb), Luna Rosa Black - activates my gag reflex, Sauvage (any of them) - should be called The Joker because I feel as if I've fallen into a vat of toxic chemical waste (apparently I'm amboxan hyper sensitive). Everyones noses and sensitivities are different. There's no substitute for smelling them in person or wearing them on skin. Thanks for sharing your personal "regrets".

Had many blind buy regrets of clones and decants, but in terms of big bottles I regret Armani Code Profumo (I loved it at first but it started to grate on me really quickly, and I find it's powderyness just nauseating now), and Black Orchid, which again I loved whenever I tried it whilst out shopping but when I finally got a bottle and was able to just sit at home and smell it on me, there was this rubbery note in it that I could not stand, and I've not touched it since.

My regretful buys aren't really about blind buys, they are more about buying scents when I first got into the niche game as a newbie. One example of a regret buy is Comandante from Xerjoff. Just smells like a very plain fruity-floral with a wearable tobacco. Ristretto Intense Cafe, another one - after getting more and more into niche, Montale's synthetic tones become more clear. And believe it or not, Oud for Greatness. I have not a single use-case for it. I get some wear from Herod, but almost zero from Oud for Greatness.
@powdmizu6379
@powdmizu6379 Год назад
Absolutely agree on you with that montale smells so syntheticly loud.. even if i love a beastly performing perfume, i don't want it coming from montale/pdm/mancera/initio For my first xerjoff i kinda like how they offers a lot of option in terms of scent and price, with the overall that you get (presentation/scent/perormance/blend) i can see myself justifying the purchase although i'm sceptical that they used 100% real oud, ambergris and other expensive materials... the scent smells really good (enough), may or not be a downside that most of their offering is taking inspiration from other frags such as mugler PH to Naxos, xerjoff offers BETTER perfomance , better quality , better Blend , and best of all they're not discontinued ! You could easily pay the same amount for the vintage original fragrance but i find that to be redundant Do you agree ?

Gotta be completely honest here- It seems like I regret blind buying EVERY modern fragrance that I have. I even regret buying the current reformulations of things I've worn for years. I'm 55 now, but I guess you could say I was a Fraghead long before it became "a thing"... I started stealing splashes of my dad's and uncle's colognes when I was only about seven or eight years old. I started actually shopping for my own frags when I was around twelve... You wouldn't believe the freebies I'd score because the women that worked the fragrance counters thought I was cute.😁 Back then, Creed samples were BIG, something like 1/16th ounce. Sometimes I'd walk away from the fragrance counter carrying a dozen of them! Anyhow... I know our olfactory senses dim as we age, but I ain't dead yet... I can still smell it when the neighbors are cooking, over 150 feet away, and I can tell WHAT they're cooking. I worked at a Perfumery in the Eighties and had a good enough nose, the owners let me design several fragrances and actually marketed them around Houston Texas, where I grew up. I can still pick out each single note in any perfume... So I know my nose (at least) is still working like it's supposed to. But honestly... I just don't get what people are calling "beast mode" or "natural" or "synthetic" these days. My latest regret is Bentley Intense. I waited for a few years to pull the trigger on it. I looked at all of the (mostly) rave reviews... And it sounded like it was going to be something right up my alley. I got it in the mail last week... And I have to say that I really liked the pushy rum opening... Unfortunately it only lasted about ten minutes on me. Then came the almost sickly bay leaf note... That hangs around for about twenty minutes and starts up an incredibly pungent cedar note, which in turn starts an also pungent patchouli note... I don't know if it's just me, but these three notes SHOULD NEVER exist together, especially in a mid drydown. Finally, the bay note tapers off, but all I'm left with is the cedar and patchouli... Which to me smells like someone emptied a pencil sharpener into a rabbit hutch. IF the loud rum note carried through the entire composition, this one would be "up there" on my list of favorites... Too bad it doesn't. In the late drydown, the patchouli note fades slightly and is spoken over by a very, very faint vanilla note which is accompanied by an even fainter iris note. By now, only like three hours in, it totally fizzles out from being a mere hint of a skin scent, to being NOTHING. I've never been so disappointed in any fragrance. I can't be certain, but maybe I got myself a lousy bottle? Maybe they have reformulated a few times since Intense was a really big deal? Anyway... I sure wish it was what I expected it to be....

I'm surprised to see JPG On Board on this list. I think On Board is an amazing fragrance. So much so, that I bought 3 additional bottles for backup, since it was a limited edition. It's a spring and summertime complement beast. Getting complements from people who know me and strangers. I had a girl ask me what it was and when I told her, she joked "Well, I'm on board with On Board! It's really good!" It even pulls complements from a few people who normally complain about fragrances. I agree with Stronger With You, Code Parfum and Enigma. Luckily, the only full bottle purchase I made of those 3 was Stronger With You, the other 2 were just decants. Usually I choose my husband's fragrances but left to his own devices he came home with some type of Old Spice. It's really down to wildly different individual taste. @michael7286 Hi Michael - I'm with ya on the oldtimers... You mention Old Spice. Before 1990, it was made by the house of Shulton... And it was truly GLORIOUS. Back in the late Eighties, anyone could buy "Paul Sebastian Fine Cologne"... And I never did, because I was so happy with the Old Spice. Anyway, I bought a modern bottle of Old Spice about six months ago and was appalled at the weakness of it, all the way around. I happened to see that the Paul Sebastian Fine Cologne is still available and DIRT CHEAP... Even less expensive than the new Old Spice. So I ordered a one ounce spray off of the 'Bay... I think it was $5.00 Good grief... Get on ebay NOW and order one for yourself! I have no idea why I wasn't buying it back in the Nineties when they effed up Old Spice the first time. The P.S. Fine Cologne might as well be the original Shulton Old Spice Cologne... It's absolutely sublime. And as far as projection and longevity? It projects about "arms length" for a good six hours... And remains a very noticeable skin scent for at least 12 to 14! Totally worth the money if someone is in to that kind of fragrance... It's a Fougere. It's very "barbershop". It's spicy, a tiny bit sweet (like apple cider) and soapy all at the same time. Give it a go! Cheers

Currently I'm happy with my collection, as I've either gifted many frags to people or sold them, reducing my collection to just under 200 bottles. Not sure how you feel fragmental, but in my humble opinion less is better. If there are any frags Ill not purchase again it would be two from the Dior Exclusive line * Eau Noir & Leather Oud. I was hoping to get the formulations that people were raving about, instead my bottles, while smelling good,are still lacking & pale in comparison to the original juice formulations of both. When I'm done Ill not be repurchasing neither. BTW! I'd no idea that Enigma(aka) Creation -E had been discontinued. Wow! Like you, I have the original EDP bottle, but the cap is plastic, with bottle looking a bit different than your bottle shown. Unlike yourself I don't have any of the other flankers, only that one. I do get marine vibes from Boss Bottled Marine and that did smell nice when I sprayed it on. But I doubt the US Marines want me in their ranks. But I get what you mean. Stronger with you only is weird. Like they wanted to create a spring fragrance but we don’t really have too many spring days in the uk these days. I really like Armani Code Parfum and think it’s does something different. The iris adds a freshness to it. But I think they’ve suffered from throwing out Code flankers to the point that make YSL look like amateurs.

I regret buying Most wanted Parfum, it smells like grape juice and the atomizer isn't great. I got it from Macy's so it did come with Bluetooth headphones, so that's a plus.

Mine is Laudano Nero by tiziana terenzi. It's not a bad scent. I quite like it actually. The only problem is I'm 40 years too young to wear it.

My most regretted blind buy is Bvlgari Aqva atlantique. I heard it was discontinued and immediately found a bottle online. The opening is good but it smells like ham after five minutes. I can't stand whatever is happening after the opening. I cannot for the life of me see what people like about the scent.

We've all been there Chris, some harsh financial lessons have been learnt along the way! I'm sure many more to come lol! Quick question regarding your website... do you have any discount codes currently or anything for first time buyers?

I blind by most of my fragrances thankfully knock on wood I haven't got anything that cost an arm and a leg that I regretted buying the main one that comes to mind the only good thing about it is the atomizer it's Sean John 3:00 a.m. and it was only like 18 bucks

I completely agree with you regarding Armani Code parfum. I find the edp has much more depth and the parfum feels rushed. I'll give the parfum another go but the people hyping it up are the same people who think bleu de chanel is the epitome of perfumery.
@bandawhat33
@bandawhat33 Год назад
I agree with armani code parfum. That was not a good fragrance at all. I like the original Code edt the best. The code edp is alright. but the parfum definitely sucks. It's all over the place it wants to go fresh and wants go be sweet. I just don't like it.

I've bought a lot of blind buy frags over the last few years. Not many have I hated cause I simply seem to find the good in most everything but...Happyland Studios Homme for the Holidays is just aweful to me and I hate it 😪 I had such high hopes it would be a banger for me but just wasn't. I love other frags from them but that one is really bad to my nose.

I could never come to liking any of the Le Male fragrances.. probably because it was so common and lavender heavy.. everyone wore it back in the early 2000s. Kokoriko is way better in my opinion.. Only Roja I liked (can’t say I’ve smelled many) and own and owned was Danger (gave that away cause it smells like Guerlain Heritage) and love Apex still own. Question.. what watch are you wearing? My biggest let down was fragrance du bois Minuit et Demi.. didn’t last at all and it was such a lovely fragrance

I have "bought blind" on several fragrances. I watch reviews and comparisons from reviewers, subscribe to the like of Aaron Terence Hughes, CurlyFragrance, and others etc and I must be honest as of yet I have not been disappointed . I also look at the fragrances to avoid. such as this video. Your loss my gain, and I must say thank you.
