Frailty came to amazon prime and I re-watched it and couldn't help but constantly think "man, bill Paxton was such a great damn actor" and immediately getting really sad knowing we lost a great one. I also recently did the same with Alpha Dog with anton yelchin and just getting emotionally crushed knowing we've lost some damn great actors.

OMG! You knew about "Fish Heads!" I'm 51 years old and that clip brought back warm, fuzzy nostalgia. I knew Bill Paxton directed "Fish Heads" but it is supremely cool that you two knew that! Also, I love this film. I didn't see it in the cinema, unfortunately, but saw this on VHS shortly after it was released, and loved it. So few people know about ghis rare gem. Thank you for reviewing this film. ❤

Love this movie. Me, my bro and some friends saw this in theaters over 20 years ago. We saw it on a whim, we only saw a few trailers on TV, noticed Paxton was starring and directing and we took a shot. Best movie decision we ever made. We were FLOORED by the time it ended. Insane!

I was shopping in a second hand store that also sells dvd movies and blurays saw it immediately bought it watched it and I loved it immediately.. Somehow dvd is old and mostly the image quality isn't good but with full screen ratio movies the quality looks like bluray and this movie will remain in my collection.. Very unique movie

Short cutback flashbacks are associated with short-term or near term memory, things that happened in the last few hours or days and are still fresh in the memory. Longer, dreamy fadeout flashbacks are distant and usually less reliable memories.

This is a good movie, the performances sell the concept of the film, and have a great aproach to the film narration and how the history unveils, however indeed is a shame it was not promoted enough and there is not much talks about it today. About Paxton he made important accomplishments in cinema, he was in some of the most memorable films, and some trivial but cool stuff like been against terminator, alien and predator, i think he still had more to give as an artist but he Is part of cinema history anyway

Not gonna lie guys, this is unironically one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. I absolutely love it. EDIT: I should clarify, possibly one of the best as well, but so baffling that, for me, it's impossible to tell whether the filmmakers were sincerely trying to make a disturbing mystery/thriller or an intentional parody of the genre. The film itself is almost a more compelling mystery than the one contained in its story. If you take the premise seriously, though, as a compelling moral thesis, you're doing it wrong. No sane person could look at Matthew McConaughey's character and conclude that he is in any way a heroic character who would be justified in real life.
@wewoor
@wewoor 2 года назад
Mmm, i was a bit surprised at the take that the visions were real, but i suppose you can see it as a very disturbing supernatural thriller. I always saw it as Paxton manipulating the boys from the start, even if the victims crimes were real (which is questionable) he could just have done proper research.

This movie could have been great- if not for the dumb twist, which legitimates religiously inspired murder.
@violinmerchant
@violinmerchant 2 года назад
This exactly. It's like, what kind of God is this? All of these people who are "demons" have committed actual crimes. There are actual LAWS they have broken. It makes no sense that Bill Paxton gets this list and, instead of gathering evidence and presenting it to the police so that they can build a case and pursue a prosecution, the assumption is that God wants him to be the actual arbiter of justice and kill these people. Then it goes full bizarro-world off the rails by having Matthew McConaughey become an ACTUAL POLICE OFFICER. I don't know if the film is arguing that the actual law-enforcement apparatus of the country should be comprised of people who have been divinely selected by God to dole out punishment for people who violate MORAL law rather than allowing the wheels of justice to appropriately address criminal activity through a robust process of deliberation. It is utterly bizarre, even more so since 90% of the movie is spent casting shade on the very notion that there is a spiritual compulsion to these murders at all. That's why I kind of love this film, including the twist. It's a genuinely well made film that goes to incredible lengths to stimulate the critical faculties of the audience, which encourages them to be skeptical of Bill Paxton and identify with Fenton, then turns around and tells us that we were idiots for even trying. It has all the hallmarks a prank, and gives you that feeling like when you think someone is making fun of you but you just can't tell, so you sit and wait to see whether they're actually serious or not. The movie should be in a museum. I've never seen anything quite like it.
