Le journaliste qui interviewe François Truffaut est Pierre Dumayet, qui fut l'un des plus brillants hommes de télévision de son époque. Cette émission est d'ailleurs une merveille.

How lovely. I grew up in the 1970s but I do remember, when I was very young, seeing programmes that were 'QUIET' and subuded like this. Maybe they didn't have the budget for music, sets and graphics....but all the better for it. I'd like to think it was a aesthetical decision in those days, rather than it being merely a practical one, to have NOTHING but the discussion, the simplest lighting and NO music. It just makes everything so much more compelling as well as relaxing. That late night vibe....where can we get that now? Anywhere?? Someone needs to be brave and make programmes like this again! Imcidentally are we meant to recognise the anonymous letter-writer? Forgive my ignorance if it's a famous face! (I haven't watched the programne here, I have the Criterion DVD....so presuming it's included here too, that segment)
