Literary, art, and film criticism be damned I guess. When a PhD student in the humanities writes their dissertation, they marshal a lot of facts to support the opinion they are presenting.
You have to take your hat off to Fran. She hasnt written a book in 30 years, has no day job or visible means of support and nearly beat out Jimmy Fallon in a bidding war for an apt but otherwise blithely waltzes her way through life in NY--an icon of the city
s She has toured relentlessly over the years making personal appearances, Q & A's etc at paid events. The Netflix series really boosted her profile. And she has toured off of that currently.
@@alejandromolinac “I would agree with myself” when I say that you probably have an issue understanding that expansion of mind is always happening because of others. You’ll be surprised that you have not had an original thought yourself. Even your comment has been said millions of times. We are all a mixture of what we are exposed to in our culture and environment. Everything new is regurgitated from the old. It’s called Inspiration. But go off Mr Alejandro…be free to be randomly rude to a lady that you don’t know on the internet to appear seemingly intelligent! Good for you!
@@patmorris4965 What has the world come to when someone old enough to watch this has never heard of Middlemarch? Do they teach anything in schools any more? Or do they just let you sit and text all day (to avoid lawsuits about your human rights)?
@@jdm9251 More like 150 -- apparently maths teaching has also suffered. (As has grammar: check the correct spellings of "its," of which you did not use one).
That’s one of few things I like about boomers they value timeless style and high quality textiles over trends and cheap polyester. It’s timeless the only thing that she needs to change is the shoes to match the current trends. But id doubt she’d care to switch things up 😅.
Can we just flood the bloody internet with Fran Lebowitz’s opinions, please? I bought a ticket (one lone ticket) to listen to her when she comes to Melbourne, Australia and I can’t fricken wait.
Metropolitan Life & Social Studies were my map, my guide, that assisted me to navigate through a very strange world in my youth. To this day they hold a place of honor in my library. I still laugh everytime I read them. - grateful
I'm a conservative, but I've always been a fan of her columns back when I was a teenager, and if I knew she was going to appear on the late night talk shows like Letterman, I would always stay up late to watch her interviews. She's both cantankerous and genuinely funny.
I can't agree with the baby comment. As an infant, my first child hardly ever laughed...he simply wouldn't "perform" and do the cute little baby things for the amusement of anyone. Throughout his public school education, he regularly earned low grades. However, once he turned 19, something "switched on" Now, the same son is a Mensa member, graduated with honors from university, has artwork in some museum in Tokyo, is well known in the spoken word community and runs his own urban farm, which serves as a model for other urban farmers in the southeastern states. These are just a few of his accomplishments.
She's a real gem. I'd love to see more collaborations between her and Mr. Scorsese. "Pretend It's a Museum." "Pretend It's a Ballet." "Pretend It's a Bookstore."
as a very opinionated person i agree with 'the culture needs more knowledge and less opinion' i think in art these days people just want more data and less 'hot takes'. let them absorb things and draw their own conclusions
