Regardless it would have meant nothing but a less humiliating score, it WAS NOT an offside... at 2:49 the ball is passed and at 2:50 the ball hasn't yet reached Fontaine, which is ON SIDE by the German right centre-half. Moreover, it seems very likely that at the moment of the pass, Fontaine was in the French side of the pitch, therefore it wouldn't have ever been offside, even if there were no Germans between him and the goal.

In 62 and 66 Pelé had serious injuries and played only one full game in each edition, and scored in both games.

@@irfan49970 in 1962 he hardly won that one... Amarillo replaced him on four of six matches, and the rest of the team was basically the same as that one of 1958 which explains that Brazil had an amazing side (not just Pelé)
