Hold on, I thought we were taking back control and they need us more than we need them and we'll be calling the shots. France has benefitted from us leaving the EU. There's no longer British MEP's vetoing policies put forward by other countries. France picked up a lot of the EU internal trade the UK lost as well and didn't really lose much from the UK and us being outside the EU made it easier for the French state owned EDF to absolutely fleece us in order to subsidise lower energy costs in France

I can’t think why the immigration lawyer who probably charges the goverment £500 per hour in legal aid would want as many economic migrants to come across as possible.

I hate to burst a bubble here but France is not punishing the UK for Brexit at all. Most french people are more than happy that Brits aren't coming to live in France anymore and turning their villages into Little Britain! They are sick of Brits with their fish and chip vans, English breakfasts and loutish behaviour. Most I've spoken to are more than happy and I'm Irish living in France full time. If you want to blame ANYONE for what's happening stop listening to this narrative and look to your own government and politicians. It is too easy to look at France and blame them for immigration and blockages at Dover in the port ect but the reality is France couldn't care a jot about the UK and it's UK ineptitude that is the biggest problem for the UK. You only have to look at where the money is going ( Serco , immigration lawyers, politicians ) and they're the people benefitting from all the chaos in the UK.

I agree with that statement about France and the recent ferrying is related to the UK withdrawing fishing rights for bottom trawling trawlers which directly means the French. The EU have always done the Home Office's job for them , now we are out of the EU , they don't know how to do their job , that's why they want to rejoin the EU .
