Strange but true fact: this was the last time Italy played a game in the knock out stage of the World Cup until (at least) 2026.

I remember this shootout and i already thought of Buffon as a veteran player at the time... and he's still playing now! What a man.

Cannavaro was undoubtely the best defender of the tournament, while Buffon was still the best goalie worldwide. Useless to say they were both playing for Juventus .

I was five years old, and I still haven't forgotten that night.

One of the best moments in my life. I watched this with my father, when Grosso scored, i was jumping and screaming, and my father was smile for me. I missed my father a lot.

I remember watching this match in the pub in front of the cathedral in Trento, i was 19 and after that goal it was just chaos and joy
