Hello Ramsey! I believe i have some very good insight on this perfume. I use to own the first formulation of Ensar Oud Iris Ghalia Pure Parfum. I had to part with it for unfortunate reasons and since then I was always trying to get my nose on something similar, and something very similar I found indeed. In comes The Lover's Tale, from the first sniff i almost shed a tear as i smelled this. It smells extremely similar to Iris Ghalia! And when i always smell TLT I'm always transported to the days when i had and smelled Iris Ghalia. And i believe it has to do a lot with this Orris butter smell, they are way to similar to my nose. Ofcourse EO had much more complexity to it but the DNA is very similar. Nonetheless, I'm extremely happy with The Lovers Tale, a fragrance that will forever be in my collection and that i hold very dear.
Totally agree with your opinion on Francesca Bianchi's line. Sold my Etruscan Water. I don't miss it. Happy New Year and all the best for 2023 to you and the family Ramsey.
Thanks Spy & Mash... I probably wouldnt miss it either if I sold it... I just dont sell my fragrances.. its a dangerous precedent for me 😂😂😂 Happy & safe and prosperous New Year to you and yours as well my friend 🎊
I blind bought this for half its price, never tried any of the others from the brand, this is my first indie perfume and i must say i like it, its strong multifaceted creation.. Leathery.. Oriss.. Peach.. Jasmine a bit animalic.. I am satisfied with it. Cheers Ram🤠
Ramsey you mentioned Wallstreet wow, that was one of my favorites so many yrs ago, I think i was in high school when i got a bottle. I do have original bottles of Kourous and Lagerfield and one of Hermes Caleche
I was interested in the house so I got a discovery set. And I absolutely love The Dark Side!! Maybe it's the violet but it is sultry in a cozy, feminine, and almost impish/coquettish way. But.....I totally agree with you in that "her DNA" does make things smell fairly similar to one another. I feel it's special but you kinda are ok with one bottel, pick your favorite and your solid. However, it is really interesting how different folks interrupt things differently. To you it's kinda passe, and I get it. But I need to be careful when I wear it in the general public. Because...in my experience it's very polarizing. I've had some compliments but I've also had people say it smells of urine and its "completely awful, gross why do you want to smell like that?!?!" Lol And, yes Papillon is amazing!! I just got Dryad and I'm waiting for Salome to come back in stock.
I don’t wanna be mean, but it’s very interesting that people with big expensive collections, think they know alot about perfumery. perfumery is complex… so it’s better to only talk about how you feel and not technical matters.
@@RamseytheRam almost all of them have a syrupy amber DNA. Which is overwhelming. I do like a few of them despite this. Their marine one, Akdeniz, was sickening 🤢 at least at the Extrait level of concentration it’s made at. So, of course I likely oversprayed it, so I probably wasn’t using it correctly. I have their discovery set. They are a Turkish house. I have no idea how common this is for middle Eastern houses, to have such sweet syrupy DNAs.
hi, great review. I actually like etruscan water and the lover's tale, but you made some very interisting points. I like her use of orris butter and enjoy wearing those fragrances, sometimes I need perfumes like them, but I agree, not the best house nor the most original., too sexualised (even if not too tacky). I appreciated your analysis.
The Lovers Tale and The Black Knight were probably my favorites of of my discovery set, but the orris aroma chemicals make my eyes water. I’ll keep my nose out for similar things that haven’t been spackled over in orris butter 🤧
You are exactly right on the line Rams ,no shade thrown I have 8 or so from the house ,introduced early to me on my fragrance exploration and I was intrigued for sure so I delved and purchased,Glad to have them ,like Andy Taure and others ,Bortnikoff and Areej le Dore all faves of mine ,all have their original dna which distinguishes their line ,and I guess I like that in these houses ,however these other houses are prone to diversify as they grow and hone their skill set, whilst Francesca stays more in her safe lane ,that said her Hedonic release Divine Perversion marches a bit to a different drum ,very safe yes ,quite linear yes but there’s something I really enjoy about it (don’t think you would like it Rams) it give me a vibe of her Black Knight, which I think is my favorite, the Black Knight I mean great vid man cheers catch ya later 👍🙏✌️
@@RamseytheRam great ,it was my second buy after the dark side and hopefully you like it ,however it is of course F.B all the way, unmistakable it is what it is Rams 👍🙏✌️
I think I've already said this in your previous FB review but I'm gonna repeat myself anyways 😅: I think she 'overuses' her signature accord (and maybe a commercial base also) and several of her perfumes end up smelling like flankers of that firs accord. The only one I've tried that deviates from this structure (and I've tried them all except the new Musk) is Lost in Heaven, a very nice floral/suede featuring mimosa as the main flower. Maybe Sex & The Sea also has the least bit of her signature accord too now that I think of it 🤔
I think you basically said what I rambled about for 30 Plus minutes and really wasnt clear in one concise paragraph Gonzalo 😅 Well said... overused is a great way to put it 👏🏻
So excited to see you getting ur nose on Francesca Bianchi! After having just viewed your interview with Liz Moores twice over the past few days. I would be surprised if you liked Etruscan Water, tbh
@@RamseytheRamyes, you did, in my opinion 🎉 I still can’t see what people like in Under My Skin for me it’s too ambery-sweet for me to see what’s special about it yet.
If she is your favorite house you will Love The Lovers tale 😍 Thanks so much for watching & commenting Julio & hope you have a happy safe & prosperous New Year 🎊
I Want To Thank You For Changing The Way I Look As Well As Smell Fragrances. You Have Absolutely Changed RU-vid Reviews.. The Best In The Community.Thank Professor 🙏🏾
Thank you Antonio... your comments always lift me up and make me feel like I own youtube 😂😂😂 Thanks for being here with me for 2022... cant wait for 2023 🎊🥂🥳
Wow really. Jean Patez ? That was Michael Jackson's signature scent !! That's what I really dig about this channel. It's the knowledge of the little things that matter most. Buying your own Frags makes the review more personal and trusted most of the time and I've noticed I'm not really watching the other review "Send me a bottle " reviewers lately. Love the vintage vids. I love frags but don't have the money to really buy blind and just try stuff. I guess that's why my collection grows slowly. Edit Google has Tom ford Black orchid as his signature scent lol
Well remember Tom Ford didnt come out till 2007 and he died not long after that so it couldnt have been his signature scent for long... before black orchid it was Jean Deprez Bal à Versailles ... go check out my review on that one 🪨 😁
pause at 1:52 lol but yeah under my skin is my fav! so I know your prolly not going to do this because you already love the original Fiona, but ill mention this anyway! so among other things, James berry may be walking away from perfumery which is sad, but he did updates to Fiona recently (which will be his last I think, batch 5) and it has similarities to under my skin that are really nice! well nice to me you should get your nose on it if you can! I know your more into the unadulterated animalics, but the new version is still the same beast just smoother, and more refined.
Very interesting! Someone wrote and said they just bought Fiona and from my description they were expecting this HUGE animalic beast and they said its not... that must be why!! Ahhh Haaa 🧐
Hi Rams Love your Chanel! I don't know from what year The lover's Tale you tried is, but I stopped buying her perfumes when she publicly said in a interview with Sebastian that she stopped using natural animalic ingredients. I don't know if that will make a difference in your opinion, but your Etruscan Water is one of the perfumes that came out after she said that . I believe the one's with the "FB" in the cap are the new ones with more synthetic ingredients. Cheers and happy new year! 🙏🏼❤️
Ahhhh yes I do remember that but honestly I dont care enough about the brand to hunt vintage bottles 😂😂😂 But thanks for sharing as I will store that little bit of information and if a vintage bottle or sample ever falls in my lap a comparison video will be in order 👍
Understood! 😂 I don't think the "vintage" ones will make a difference in regards to your opinion and the brand overall. I have like 5 of them and I like them, but for some reason I don't reach for them. Then after your second video I do agree with you 100% in regards to this house.
