Is that a loudspeaker sitting in front of the piano? I hope so, because it seems to me the only way to deliver a satisfactory performance to the audience. The somewhat ludicrous premise of this work is always going to be a problem in live performance (even with the "heavy frame" instrument). A wonderful piece in recording when the engineers have done their work. So why not subtly amplify the acoustic sound of the harpsichord to give it a chance?
