I lived in Franconia for 5 yrs and spent most of my spare time in the notch. This vid brought back so many fond memories, actually, the finest years of my like.
Spent an entire summer hiking the trails around franconia notch with friends.Camping out any old place at night...seeing the sights during the day.It was the summer of 1999 and I will never....ever forget it.The finest summer of my life.
Went here every summer in the 1950s with my parents grandparents and uncle /Antie. It’s true it changed every years and continues. Climbed mount Washington in 1991 with my boys. And my dog Fredo in 2016 Beautiful place. It always calls me back
My grandmother brought us up to Bethlehem every year to ski at Bretton woods during February vacation, and every time we went up, my cousins and I would fight to get a view of the old man. Punching and pushing each other out of the way to cement our snotty faces against the windows of her Buick to see him, even when it was dark (the old man on a full moon was a sight to see). I was deployed to Iraq when the old man fell, and it was as equally doleful as anything else I had experienced that year. After getting out of the military, I have made northern New Hampshire my home, and I wander the mountains of Franconia Notch and still look up at where the old man stood watch. Every year I visit the old woman of the notch (The watcher), and talk to her about the old man while looking up at his place. The old man is still there in spirit, the ambience of that area is one of a kind and something I have never experienced anywhere else in my travels around the world.
Spent many wonderful years in Franconia. I have travelled around the world, seen mountain ranges on several continents. Nothing compares to the craggy old notch.
Great rock hounded up there I stayed in Woodstock and it was great. It’s funny I live in Gorham for a few years and wasn’t a rock hound at the time dough!!! And I was in Arizona ,Iraq and Afghanistan and I didn’t bring home one rock what an idiot
Wow! Just snowmobiled through the Notch on Saturday on the great Recreation Trail. What an experience!! Otherworldly! Stunningly beautiful! I love the Notch. My Dad used to take our family there when we were little ... many, MANY, moons ago. Thanks for the video.
