@grimble As much as i like Kim and her work post-Pixies, in the Breeders and the Amps, how can she possibly be compared to Charles so far as creativity and song writing goes? Not even close. Much hotter though
@grimble She is most definitely awesome :) Agreed about recent Pixies. Disappoints me every time i try to listen to anything they have done since the old days :(
But what would you say about... Darkthrone-A Blaze In The Northern Sky Darkthrone-Transylvanian Hunger Mayhem-De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas AC/DC-Razors Edge Judas Priest-Painkiller Kreator-Endorama Genesis-We Can't Dance Motörhead-1916 Gary Moore-Still Got The Blues Immortal-Pure Holocaust Slayer-Seasons In The Abyss Queen-Innuendo Black Sabbath-TYR? Those are my 90s top picks among some others.
Between Frank Black and Robbie Pollard from Guided by Voices, these two elevated pop music to unbelievable heights. Can never get enough of either. Deserving of so many more accolades and recognition. This record is a masterpieces from start to end. Thank you so much Mr. Black. Timeless, genius and essential. Spread the gospel of Frank and Rob. None of this mentions the cult like dedication of their fans and the wonderful reciprocity of these artists appreciation. Few recordings or artists are so fantastically timeless. True writers, artists and performers of their time. Much more recognition and respect is due. By ū
Crazy you said that because I went deeeeeeep into frank black and GBV. So bad I couldn't listen to anything else. It was about 10-15 years ago, shit I don't remember when...but I always go back to those sounds
I like these two artists but cannot verify that there exists a relationship between them. I am responding because I was wondering if you were still on youtube and how you are. This is random I'm not a scout of curators I've simply stumbled upon this area because of my taste. I also have no friends atm. hoping to hear a reply!!
Brings me right back to middle school. I loved(hated)it when my alarm would go off and my local radio station would play this song. At the time I didn’t realize that this was the same guy would sang monkies gone to heaven, or the breeders was Kim deal, I love them all. I’ve a warm special place in my heart for this madness
The Pixies started grunge. We were so stoked. All we had before that was stupid hair band shit or dance music. Frank and Co. injected new life into popular music.
He also recorded under the name Black Francis and as Frank Black and the Catholics , and has several side projects like Grand Duchy and Paley & Francis. Have fun.
Absolutely not joking or making a snarky aside. Put on " Places named after numbers" the first thing tomorrow morning. It's a hell of a wake up song. Not kidding.
@@CinematicMaj Oh yeah, no doubt about that. I’m saying that his individual stuff is overlooked IMO. He’s a talented musician. He may as well be a primary songwriter for Pixies
The fact I have just discovered this song is criminal. I’ve always liked the Pixies and didn’t realize Black Francis had his own solo stuff. I’ve had this on repeat for like 2 weeks now.
Love this song x Love Frank Black! I discovered this music i was 17. 18 years later, i still listen this song with thé same vibe and will have the honour to see him singing this album "teenager of thé years" in few months ! Im so excited !!
Lyrics This wrinkle in time, I can't give it no credit I thought about my space and I really got me down (got me down) Got me so down, I got me a headache My heart is crammed in my cranium and it still knows how to pound I was counting the rings And I fell me into sleep I peeked to see if you were way back when I was counting the trees Until a day when there was one I'd hoped beneath, asleep is where that you had been This wrinkle in time, I can't give it no credit I thought about my space and I really got me down (got me down) Got me so down, I got me a headache My heart is crammed in my cranium and it still knows how to pound Well, I found you Maybe you can help me And I can help you This wrinkle in time, I can't give it no credit I thought about my space and I really got me down (got me down) Got me so down, I got me a headache My heart is crammed in my cranium and it still knows how to pound Got me so down, I got me a headache My heart is crammed in my cranium and it still knows how to pound This wrinkle in time, I can't give it no credit I thought about my space and I really got me down (got me down)
i love the subtle nods to dylan and rod stewart. frank black is a genius at building off his influences and crafting something totally his own. This album is amazing. He also pulls a little bit from Television and X (LA legends!) at other points in this album, in equally novel ways. What an amazing songwriter!
Lucky. We had the Carpenters and shitty disco on AM radio in the back of my mom's Dodge Dart. Bright side: There was a 2-3in hole in the floor we could stuff napkins through and then jump up to watch them blow away behind the car as we went down the road. Ah, to be a little kid.
Frank black teenager of the year album is definitely in my all-time top 10 if I was on a desert island and definitely would be one album I would have with me ..
This is from one of those albums where each time you listen to it you debate which is the best song ... and which one you wish the PIXIES would do live. I find it interesting that so many of my " favorite artists " are on 4AD.
Might want to check out Atlas Orthogonal chiropractic, I know several people who got relief from pain. I thought chiropractors were all full of crap until I met. Dr. Stan Pierce, Jr. of EPIC Clinic in Clearwater, FL. It can't hurt to let somebody have a peek....
Charles looks so young here, lol. He will always be a part of my life, he has been since I was 13 or so. Pixies first, then his solo stuff, then his work with The Catholics, then FBF, then his most recent work with the reformed Pixies again. I even remember his two albums with his ex-wife Violet Clark as Grand Duchy, lol.

@@daivwhaley6937 This one was directed by Adam Bernstein (who directed several TMBG videos). Flans, however, directed the videos for _Los Angeles,_ and _Hang On To Your Ego._
Just recently was listening to Head Carrier, sound of which was very reminiscent of Frank Black solo albums. Decided to check his music and here I see a newly uploaded awesome music video for an awesome song! Great!
i like when he brings in mythology and fantasy/sci-fi. he references 'a wrinkle in time', by madeleine l'engle, one of my favorite childhood fantasy novels. also Velouria, one of my favorite songs of his
@@eyepodwalkman6247Nope it's not 1976. It's a 1979 edition. My cousin, who was a teacher, gave it to me for Christmas plus the other 2..... "Wind In The Door" for got the other title. Loved those books, tho! Never read since then.
Oh thank the maker, been looking on and off for years for this song, thought it was frank ocean, then song called credits, finally tonight, found this song i had seen a long time ago. Cool.
I only came upon this song thanks to searching for some lyrics being sung by Dan Bell on his podcast that mentioned a headache. Of course Bells were a tad different and probably ad-libbed on the spot.
