I've been trying to get good closeups of his playing in songs like these for a long time, this is awesome! Did he happen to play his part from "This is How I Disappear"?
@@xxsandman Thanks for replying at all, I really appreciate it! I'll take what I can get, and am super grateful you recorded and shared this. This was a much more in-depth and detailed visual of his octave technique. I have been seeking possible improvements to my own technique, and this was really helpful for that.
if someone told me a year ago that frank would be in quarentine in his basement and he would say “i play guitar in my chemical romance” before giving a tutorial on how to play the ghost of you on the guitar i would laugh
unlike the tutorial him and ray gave but it was just them saying "its super simple' while literally just playing NA NA NA this one is actually a tutorial
I'm dying to see him or Ray break down some of the distorded chord voicings in any of the revenge songs, especially To The End... My ear's not good enough to pick it up
@@robertogtr9159 which is still very similar to an echo. They're all time-based effect. It's like arguing the difference between a phaser and a flanger.
@@zackakai5173 it's an effect called delay, imagine going to a store and saying, I want an echo pedal. To achieve that sound you need delay and reverb.
I love how he at some point doesn’t even really explain anymore, he’s just playing. Someone seems to really miss playing MCR stuff… and yes “I play guitar in my Chemical Romance” was butterscotch for my ears! I wish he’s start singing like he did in his other tutorials.
Watching this really made me realize how much I love him and Rays parts! They don't really mix, like most do, the clash, and fight each other, in the best way, making this completely amazing, different, and unique sound that we know and love as My Chemical Romance 🖤🖤 And then Mikey's bass parts add in the perfect balance that keep Ray and Franks parts from ruining each other. It's so amazing 🖤🖤
I've never heard his part isolated in "The Ghost of You." It's really neat that the riff in and of itself is a little eerie like a ghost. And then blended in and forward it turns sad. That's pretty *rad!*
For the black parade get a handle on those octave chords and then moving them around. The verse parts a little harder with the stretch and palm mute, practice the chords one by one to strech the fingers out then slowly work in the palm mute going slow. Takes time but you'll get there
Worst? Try the one in which he and Ray teach Na Na Na (i think thats the one). Or the one in which he teaches Shes The Prettiest Girl At The Party from his 1st post-MCR album. This is the worst ever 😂
Long time listener. I’ve played plenty of covers searching for that MCR tone. I’m older so I don’t use RU-vid a lot. As a joke one time, I played “this is how I disappear” on my wildkat with p90s. I never realized it was the secret sauce for MCR tone. Seeing Frank play on them reinforces that and it makes me so so so happy. I love this band so so much. Thanks for keeping rock alive.
I mean I didn't click on the video with the intent of learning any MCR songs today, but I've got four guitars, a fully equipped pedalboard, and an amplifier sitting within ten feet of me...
TMW you heard him say "I play guitar in My Chemical Romance" and assumed this video was from like 2010, then he started talking about the quarantine and you realize it's much more recent than that.
Man I love him so much he's so fucking talented and even though some of the things he showed were simple they were still amazing and beautiful this man never fails to make me smile! I love the octave lines sm! Even though I'm shit at guitar he still makes me wanna keep practicing and doing what I love! Thank you Frank for inspiring me to be who I am today never stop being you 🥺🤧✌
i have watched this video 9 times in the past 4 days and i still have no idea how to break this down and play it for the love of god some one stop this man.
