Frank & Laurel || Isn't it lovely, all alone? (+Season 5) 

One of the only reasons I don't consider HTGAWM one of my favorite shows is this!! Because as much as I love the plots and twists and acting in this show (which are phenomenal!!) but the writing was really messed up concerning the whole Frank-Laurel-Wes story line. It didn't make any sense!! She was so in love with Frank and worried about him and obviously wasn't over him in season 3. Then she gets together with Wes (for like 2 weeks), and we find out later that she cheated on him with Frank. All these things point to the fact that Wes was the rebound guy and she was still in love with Frank but didn't want to admit it, right? Nope. They made Wes the "love of her life", changed Laurel's entire personality till the point that the only words coming out of her mouth were "Wes this" and "Wes that" (she became super annoying let's be honest), made her treat Frank horribly and only use him for sex, like he never meant anything to her, ruined their whole story... I really hate how they treated Frank and Laurel. I agree if that was the plan all along, they should have ended their story in season 3 when he left.

DelenaSwarkles it’s exactly how I feel, they rushed everything about their lovestories , and now they did the same thing with Bonnie and Frank, I always felt that Laurel reacted like that because of her guilt I mean she can’t really forgive Frank for what he did because Wes died and she had his son and before his death she just cheated on him, so if she came back to Frank she remembered that she cheated on him with Frank and lied to him, And yes Laurel became just selfish and annoying, I don’t know if you had watching the last episode but for once she did something good after she heard that her brother tortured Frank but now we all know that the writers ruined them, it’s sad because i liked how they completed each other in a lot of points and how their chemistry felt natural,they had this passionate and complicated story that i really liked because I think it really changed Frank in a good way let’s be honest he became a better version of himself because of Laurel,and tbh I always knew that Frank gonna have a bad ending so I didn’t except a happy ending or something like that for Flaurel but I would’ve liked to see the writers give a consistent and logical writing to his story with Laurel,not to see them changing their feelings in 2 minutes without a real development and turning suddenly every friendship between a male and female into a ridiculous lovestory

No I haven't caught up with season 6 yet, I have only watched the first episode. But I have seen people on twitter talking about Laurel and Frank and how she said to him that sometimes she thinks she should have said yes to his proposal. It really sucks tbh how they handled their story. And I 100% agree! I always felt like her over the top attachment to Wes after he died was just born out of guilt because she slept with Frank (and probably was still in love with Frank the whole time she was with Wes). But I wish they explained that better in the show. They tried so hard to make it seem like Laurel and Wes were just the most perfect love story and that what they had was "so epic". When in reality it really wasn't. She was with him for what? a couple of weeks? And in those weeks she still cheated on him with Frank (not to mention that she also stated a couple of episodes earlier that she still loves Frank). So it was clear who Laurel really loved. I have no idea why they decided to ruin that and make Wes "the greatest love of her life". I agree they really had the best chemistry in the show. It's really sad how they decided to replace them with the most dull couples: Frank and Bonnie. and Laurel and Wes. I love HTGAWM but Frank and Laurel's story was just plain bad writing. It was handled very poorly.

DelenaSwarkles I feel the same thing, it's so badly written, I mean how you want to convince us that was a big love story when it lasted 2 weeks and during those 2 weeks the girl cheated on him with her ex, why leave lots of doubts about the possible return of Frank and Laurel to ultimately act as if it never counted, as if it had just become a sex story, when the 2 confessed that they were in love, when Laurel spent 6 months crying and looking for Frank et protecting him from Annalise after he confessed that he killed an innocent girl,from his confession they could just have stopped their story if it was the plan since the start after the death of Wes they wanted so much that we don't forget Wes that they exaggerated his lovestory with Laurel they literally made her acting like a ridiculous widow it was overdone I was like when exactly she had this big lovestory with Wes lol while they barely knew each other let’s be honest they could forced their friendship though I think they didn’t really have a deep or genuine friendship like Connor and Michaela or Frank and Bonnie but the lovestory it was just not believable at all and now they force Bonnie and Frank romantically though Bonnie and Frank have known each other for long but it felt forced to me I mean why now when Laurel was not here, and all these inconsistent flashbacks like Sam didn’t let them be together in the past mmm yeah but why after his death they aren’t been together, why Annalise seemed so surprised in season 3 to learn that they had slept together and said to Bonnie that she finally slept with Frank if she was aware that they had already slept together years before Always loved Frank and Bonnie but to me what they had was not romantic it’s just two broken people who think that they had to bond because of their past mistakes,I can accept that Flaurel is over but I just would’ve liked at least see the writers do things with consistency and sense, because all I feel is like they change their feelings in 2 seconds as if they were in college based on "you love me more than the other .." I love the show but I’m still bitter about some things,they could have left them single or build something that makes sense with other persons not just force Frank or Laurel with others persons only when one of them was not in town

It made any sense,making her acting like a ridiculous widow for a relationship of two weeks max with her cheating on him as soon as she saw Frank come back was way too much and it ends up by destroying Laurel’s character,this doesn’t sound like someone are really in love,I did believe that she was definitely over-compensating because of her guilt over her family killing him and over her cheating on him just before his death,I just wanted that the writers explained things better

Exactly I couldn’t say better this story with Wes was just not believable at all,she cheated on him as soon as Frank come back in her life and just before dating wes she was like obsessed with Frank,she called him over and over and protected him,she made a deal with her father just to find him and after she told Wes that she didn’t want to protect Frank ...I mean what the f*ck ? Laurel seemed to me so fake with her feelings, her actions didn’t coordinate at all with what she could say ... so I just want to understand when exactly she was in love with Wes while cheating on him with Frank or while thinking about Frank and calling him ...she loved Wes but she was clearly not in love with him to me because if she was really in love she would never had cheated on him afterwards I know that it would have been difficult for her to come back with Frank after everything he has done but the writers should have explained things better instead of forcing with an unbelievable love story making Laurel so inconsistent and annoying but I’m glad that Frank and Laurel had this closure in season 6 when she told him that she missed him and that she had some of regrets about his proposal

@@tgitcooper791 Right! Laurel was my favorite character the first couple of seasons exactly because somehow she did stay compassionate and real despite of her upbringing. I hate how they changed her after Wes, like she became a whole different person and even the wonderful way Karla Souza portrays her couldn't save the bad writing. In the first episodes after Wes's death there was still hope Frank will be finally permitted the redemption he was craving by raising not only another man's child but the child of a man Laurel said she loved...but no such luck.

@@Yanaballerina exactly they completely changed her they made her a version of a heartless woman, she seemed so fake since season 3 and just saying, if they were gonna make Laurel entire existence about Wes, they should have made their love story more convincing ,this thing happened over like 3 eps, she cheated on him and I was meant to go along with it!? Sorry not buying it, and i agree it would be so much more touching to see frank raise someone else's baby even if 'he did it in the beginning but I wish they had given Frank and Laurel another chance to be really together but instead they went so back and forth in their relationship it wasn’t consistent but honestly I think the fact that Karla Souza decided to left the show changed a lot of things of the writing ... I loved the show because of the plots&twists but the writing about love storylines was just one of the flaws of the show,they changed character’s feelings with any transition any development,they exaggerated a lot of things just to create a drama about other stories

I envy you for still being hopeful lol. I wanted these 2 to be endgame so badly but sadly with only 1 episode left, I don't know how they could manage to get them together. I actually lost hope for these 2 because they have been doing an excellent job since season 3 at acting like Laurel only uses Frank for sex, and Wes is actually the love of her life (don't get me started on that whole mess). So idk how they could fix that and make them endgame in one episode :(

the writers just destroyed Laurel's character with no consistency, they change people's feelings in 2 seconds, I love Bonnie but in the end they just wanted to sell that sudden love affair between Frank and her so badly that they just wanted to make Laurel like she never existed in Frank’s life, and then pretend Laurel had always hoped that Frank and Bonnie would end up together (even if she adds that she says that so as not to feel guilty for having abandoned him. ) they are kidding I hope? so Laurel was hoping for that when she told Bonnie that she still loved him when he left in season 3 or when she asked her for informations about Frank, or when she was crying for him and doing everything to find him in season 3, the writers just wanted to showcase new relationships by destroying Frank and Laurel's relationship, and that by making Laurel's character just horrible like she was never there for him and that was only Bonnie who was there for him but they seem to forget that when he left the only one who cared about him was Laurel and not Bonnie, at which point the Bonnie was telling Laurel to forget Frank and that it was a monster I loved this show but the writing of love stories is just awful and not at all coherent and realistic ! And I agree I would liked to see more of the reaction of Laurel when he got shoot, I understand the fact that her son was in the car and they were a gunshots, I think the only thing that she had to do was drive away to keep her son safe but why they reduced her character only as her role as a mother, honestly if it was their plan in the beginning to ruined them like them, I would liked to see them stopping any relationship between them when Frank left after confessing her about Lila because now I don’t understand if they had planned to put them back together and I clearly think that was their plan because they knew a lot of people liked them but they didn't because Karla Souza planned not to be present in season 6 or so the writers just don't like them together and they made everything to pretend they never existed ...

THEY TREATED FRANK LIKE A PIECE OF TRASH, DIDN'T EVEN SHOW HIS FUNERAL OR A GRAVE !! 100% AGREE W YOU

@@DelenaSwarkles aaah 😕 I hope you will want to post it one day, I understand your reaction but I enjoyed the last discussion they had at the end, for me it clearly showed that they will always have feelings for each other even if they dated other persons , and I agree I would have liked that the writers show us more of Laurel's reaction even if we were lucky( if I can say that 😅) to see that she was devastated but they immediately cut the moment like they can’t give us that, they could have made an effort, we were enough baited the last season, they could have given us at least that, doing that at one of the most original ships it's just a shame but anyway I really like your talent and I hope you change your mind and want to post an edit of them soon ☺️

Aww I really hope I'll be able to finish it so I can post it for you!! I'll try I promise!! And yeah I guess at the end it showed that they will always have feelings for each other, but it just felt like a cheap way to do that for me. Since season 3 the writers made it their mission to show that Laurel doesn't love Frank anymore and that Wes is the "love of her life" (don't get me started on that lol), and so I would have liked to see a bit more development in their story (mostly Laurel apologizing for the way she treated Frank) instead of just Laurel coming back last second, saying she should have said yes to Frank's proposal, and Frank just dying (AND not showing us Laurel's reaction, only a glimpse). Okay I guess you could say I'm still bitter lol. Anyway, I promise I'll try to finish the edit!!

@@DelenaSwarkles aww tyy sm, and yeah I agree it was like the writers wanted just to discredit them in purpose to elevate others ships, I also would’ve liked to see Laurel apologize even if she did it in some way,but I wanted to see more for them,they deserved more,and the thing with Wes just made people hating Laurel just because it wasn’t realistic and consistent,I never understood why they forced so much this thing,all Laurel’s actions just pointed the fact that it was Frank that she was truly in love,you cheated on a guy the first minute when you see your ex come back in town and after you pretend that he was the love of your life just because he died while you cheated on him and dated him two weeks, what this conception of love but anyway I really would like to see a new edit of Flaurel on your page ;;)

Just to create a big drama with Wes death and the Castillo but they exaggerated the thing so much that it wasn’t even convincing or consistent,all of this made people just hate Laurel because of how she acted

E foi tocante ele assumindo para a Bonnie que ele ainda amava a Laurel (após aparecer do sumiço). Ali o Frank assumiu que no fundo o grande amor dele era a Laurel e não a Bonnie. Acho que Frank e Laurel poderiam ter formado uma família juntos, mas os roteiristas preferiram não só acabar com o romance dos dois como não darem um final digno para ambos. Adorei a forma de como a Laurel transformou o Frank, e ele assume isso quando ele dissera a Boonie que ama a Laurel pelo o que ela deu a ele, ou seja, uma nova vida, um menino para ajudá-la a cuidar. A Própria Laurel diz no último capítulo que as vezes ela pensava em ter dito “sim” (para o pedido de casamento) e ter formado uma família com ele. Eu torcia para os dois ficarem juntos. Era nítido que o grande amor da vida do Frank era a Laurel, a quem fez inúmeros sacrifícios por ela.❤

It’s the one where she’s talking to Gabriel about how she “loved Wes so much but turns out he was keeping the worst part of himself from her...” and idk, I felt like that describes more her relationship with frank so I decided to use it here ☺️

Frank changed in good way because of Laurel in her life, why the writers decided suddenly at the end that Frank should be with the one who loved him because he was a monster, and not with the one who made him feel normal, what the f*ck ?

I really hope so!! But tbh by the looks of it, I don't think they will. The show wrote Wes as being the "love of Laurel's life" and ever since he died, all Laurel ever talked about was him and how much she loved him and bla bla bla. So unfortunately, as much as I hope they end up together, I don't think they will :((((
