Frank is the best guitarist I ever heard. Not because I know him, but because he's a virtuoso and also a very intelligent man!
@liftme225

He played like that through the entire SIX hour concert My big three. Stevie Ray ,Jimi Hendrix and Frank Marino. Whichever one i am listening to at the time is the best. Welcome to greatness! Monster guitarist. Monster drummer Dave Goode. Frank would never slave to the record studios and stayed true to himself. Hence they never promoted him.

My two favorite guitarists are Gary Moore and Frank Marino. You guys should get the "Live at the Agora Theater" DVD. It's six hours of guitar greatness!

People compare Frank to Hendrix, Stevie Ray, Trower, etc., but in all honesty, Frank is uniquely original and has crafted his own very special sound. Heck, he created his own genre of rock guitar playing. His licks, riffs, scales, rhythm patterns, phrasing, clarity, as well as his lyrics and voice are all so uniquely Frank Marino that I find it difficult to compare him to anyone else. I only wish his right hand would get restored to health so he could give us a few more concerts like this before he takes up the rocking chair for good.

Frank Marino is so often left off those perennial lists of great guitarists. He was just not as well known and his band Mahogany Rush just never really took off and soared , like they should have. He’s “underrated” because he’s not well known.

I always knew of Mahogany Rush even in the 70's and bought all of his albums. I never got a chance to see Frank and I've seen a lot of artists in my days. I live in the South of the U.S. and it seemed like he never came around when touring. I used to go to shows in DC, Baltimore, Philly, and it seemed like he didn't tour much.?

Frank is widely regarded as one of the top guitarists. It's a crowded field after decades upon decades of great guitar playing. Frank's live covers of Red House are top of the line.

I would also add that he's a damn fine vocalist as well...his voice is so "rock and roll"!

He played some of the biggest music festivals in the 60's and 70's . He should have already been in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Back in 1975 Frank and other bands were playing at Sherwood Forest a small hall in Davison Michigan that was well known for having bands and parties. It was private property so cops never came out there. Every table had a whisky soaked watermelon on it as well as three joints. Frank was just milling around in the crowd and we went outside and burned a fat one. I think that there were about six of us passing the joint. I had no idea who he was. Not until he took the stage and smoked the place! Ted Nugent and Bob Seger were playing that day as well but they were not famous then. It was just a party. After Nugent played Frank took the stage and just leveled the place! You should have heard the screaming! Bob was up next but nobody cared after Frank blew them all away. Now I look back and think that if I knew that these three would make it big, I would have asked for autographs. That was a fun day I will never forget!!

Thanks for featuring Frank Marino. He was one of my guitar heroes growing up in Montreal. He may not have achieved the widespread recognition that some of his contemporaries enjoyed, but he is held in high regard by his fellow guitar virtuosos.

When you start talking about great guitar players, he is at the top of most lists. And btw, when he retired, I had tickets to see him in Cincinatti. He developed a debilitating illness that forced him to quit. I saw him in '79 and was hoping to see him once again. Maybe in the future....

There are so many well-known guitarists who were fluenced by Frank marino, Alex lifeson of Rush, Tony Mcphee of Groundhogs, the names go on. Your so right if your in the right place you may not be the best but everyone thinks you are. Frank and Alex were big a influence on my playing and I have now played guitar for 45 years ! ❤

One of the cleanest sounds, precise, old school and inoffensive guitarist I’ve ever encountered.from the same concert check out “The Answer”. You will be amazed.❤️❤️❤️

I was electrified in 1975 in Munich when I bought the third album of canadian Hard Rock band MAHOGANY RUSH called "Strange Universe", a band, where FRANK MARINO was the head of. Since that time FRANK MARINO is one of my Top Three guitar player, singer & composer. Hear his voice in the songs, and you can recognize so much personality and character.

The other vastly underappreciated Canadian guitarist you need to know about is Domenic Troiano. He was in Mandala, Bush, The Guess Who, The James Gang and solo. Recommend 'War Zone' from him.

I love your take on Frank. Underrated as far as the record industry and the lack of support to garner sales. Which of course equals overall success. However, there is no denying his talent. Many of the top guitarists in the field site him as influential.

I saw Frank Marino in Regina as a teenager in the mid-1970s. There was an urban legend back then that Jimi Hendrix's soul transmigrated into Frank Marino when he died. I think Frank has disavowed being the one who started that, LOL! 🎸

This was done in a very cold theatre - the Agora Theatre in Cleveland on Lake Erie in December. The Agora Theatre had been vacant for a long time with no heat and a high ceiling. It was impossible to get the building heated up, it was like an Igloo. The cold was in the foundation and walls, it was a wonder they were able to play... but then again they're from Montreal, at least Frank is, I don't know about the other bandmembers.

Hello Andrei & Dominika, I thought I'd leave another suggestion, if interested. I believe you've reacted to the artist YEBBA, before with Clark Beckham; well, here's another one of her songs. "YEBBA - October Sky (Live)" (by the channel: Yebba) --This song "October Sky" by Yebba was released on her 2021 debut album called "Dawn". Abby Smith, known professionally as (Yebba) is an American singer-songwriter, from West Memphis, Arkansas. She first became known for her backing vocals on "Chance the Rapper's SNL performance in 2016 and she released her debut single in 2017 called "Evergreen" As always, I enjoyed rocking with you both, thanks for sharing.

I don't even know what's going on. I haven't heard anyone mention Frank Marino for decades, and then I've heard about 10 different people reference him in the last 4 months. Strange Dreams was a huge hit for him.

Frank is at the top of my list of great guitar players. Within the guitar community he's well known and highly regarded as one of the greats. When people refer to him as underrated might be because he's unknown from a mainstream pov. Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush fit a niche where the guitarist is the star of the show and for the most part that's who people go to see. Frank Marino, Gary Moore, Jeff Beck,Yngwie Malmsteen etc are such acts, where it's all about the guitarist. Frank Marino has been around since the 70's. Most of the videos you find of him and his band, tend to be bad quality cam jobs. From what I understand, people have been telling him to put a collection of his songs on DVD. In 2010 Frank actually did the DVD (Live at the Agora), which imo just might be the best collection on guitar playing ever produced. This video (Something's Comin our Way) is from that DVD. Frank thus far has uploaded about 4 to 5 songs from the dvd. Check out "It's Begun to Rain" absolutely a killer song and the guitar solo is exceptional.

He did this for over 50 years, amazing. My own small trivial memory: when I first heard Eruption & You Really Got Me on the radio, I was amazed like everyone 1st time you hear it. I wondered who it was, and I thought maybe it's Frank Marino, because he was the only one I could imagine doing that back then. Of course it was Van Halen, birth of a new age. But my 1st thought was "it must be Frank Marino, he's the only one that can play that ..."

How many guitarists do you know that can play a 12 hour concert and continue to hit and pluck every note on the spot! Frank ia an amazing guitarist certainly one of the top five ever. He's not underrated but under famous ! And that's because he gave the finger to CBS way back in the 80's for exploiting him and interfering with his music. Before he and his band would play stadiums and large arenas with supporting bands such as Queen and Kansas..
