I found your story and got plenty of happiness in your books. I appreciate your survival with your brothers in a miserable childhood. Can you see me in heaven? Rest in peace. I love all your books.
Lyndon Johnson's wife was named Claudia Alta Taylor. "Ladybird" was a nickname she'd had since childhood. Sometimes her husband shortened it to "Bird." But a lot of people thought her name really was "Ladybird."
Such an amazing introduction espousing all that's great about Ireland and the Irish and then he reads an excerpt from the first paragraph of Angela's Ashes which shits all over the Ireland that Frank experienced as a boy before he left for the States. That's the Ireland I know and love, we know it's far from perfect but we don't delude ourselves into thinking we are a utopia. Of course there are small minded people who disagree with Frank McCourt's version of Ireland but thankfully they're in the minority and we quietly pity them.
Did my ICT module making a movie about Frank McCourt, got an A. RIP Frank, loved your book and remembered when they filmed the movie in Limerick with fond memories, seeing Limerick transformed into the past.
I'm reading Frank's book, "Un jeune prof á New York" at the moment. It's a very funny, well translated account of his whimsical memoir as a young "Teacher man", retelling his personal life and observations.
