if you’re bisexual like frank then you understand what this is really about. he’s not saying that Islam is a bad religion. he’s saying that no matter the religion, people could never truly accept him the way he is. that’s why he says “i could never make him love me” because every blessing, no matter how beautiful feels hollow when you know in your soul that if they knew you were queer they wouldn’t love you and accept you as you are.
If you did like or disliked a religion ,it does ,it does not a mean that all religions have an evil God. In the religion of God ,he doesn't care what you do.
I wanted to say that no matter whatever he meant by the lyrics being about love it is still sad that he talked about the Islam religion like that allah hu Akbar means. Allah is the greatest in Islam so to say don't curse at me after that line was not really a good thing as a muslim I had to stand up for my religion.
I understand what you're saying but what he meant was that by saying "Allahu akbar", which means God is the greatest, Frank is symbolizing God in this song as his lover because he worships his lover like a god. Thus, by the taxi driver saying "Allahu akbar", Frank is connecting Allah to his love because he worships his love like a God, but because the love is not reciprocated from his lover, Frank feels horrible so he does not want to hear that the person he worships is the greatest because it hurts him.

I think you missed what he’s trying to convey. He’s not just talking about simply just about Islam, he’s talking about any and all religion. Any religion whose God doesn’t love him for who he is and makes him go to his knees to repent for who he is, is a bad religion to him. To him religion is like a one man cult. He feels that God doesn’t love him bc of who he is, it’s unrequited love. (He feel this way bc he is gay)
You clearly haven't understood the meaning of the song. This song uses religion as a metaphor for unrequited love. So when the Taxi driver says “God is great,” he connects that to the curse of un-returned love. He’s already worshiping his own god (his love) and it’s only caused him pain. The last thing he thinks he needs is another deity to worship. It's also a metaphor for religions that curse those who are not heterosexual, and Frank is in the process of confessing this about himself. Please don't missjudge artists just because you can't see through the lyrics and can't understand deeper meanings, specially Frank Ocean who's lyrics are absolutely wonderful

but the reality is Bad religion is a song about unrequited love. Frank loves this person so much to the point where he worships him but the other person doesn't feel the same way. He can't accept that and is desperate to change his feelings towards him. Hence why it's a bad religion. ("It's a bad religion to be in love with someone who could never love you").
