Brilliant digital collaboration between 2 TITANS ! Nigel, you definitely know your top tier entertainers. Now how about a duet with Judy and Al . Thank You !
What is it about this song that makes it so mournful and sad? Is it the nostalgia of days gone by? Is it the vague memory of defeat of the South in the Civil War? Or is it something else? I dunno. It's a beautiful song. But there's an undertone of sadness that just completely envelops this song.
Yes, this is the Hollywood Bowl. It's still going strong in 2022 and looks about the same. Universal Studios, wiith it's tourism and adjoining hotels, is about a mile north on the Hollywood Freeway which runs on the other side of that hill right behind the Bowl.
Wow these two would be vilified today, blm/antifa would be sitting outside the Hollywood Bowl attacking all the fans as they're trying to get back to their cars.
Larry Parks did a fantastic job with Jolson’s mannerisms but he lip synced Jolson’s voice. And did it so well many people thought he was actually singing.
@@nigeldreiner I wouldn’t apologize Nigel. There are some small minded, uneducated people out there and only have racism to talk about. Keep up your good work.
Back in the 1940s, there was some kind of event at The Friar's Club and a bunch of singers were scheduled to perform. The original schedule had Jolson next to closing and Sinatra closing. Sinatra looked at the schedule and said "let Jolson close. I ain't following him!".
@@nigeldreiner He doesn't realize the young Sinatra voice is so different from the more familiar older Sinatra. Listen to Sid Mark's weekly show "The Sounds of Sinatra" and you'll hear the young Sinatra.
@@edwardcricchio6106 Right you are! After Sinatra had his voice problems in the late'40s and made his singing comeback he'd become a "dark Baritone". Earlier than this, when Sinatra first appeared, his voice was even a bit higher and at times you could tell that he was imitating Crosby a bit. Crosby and Jolie were his idols.
