For those complaining about the crowd. I was there with a Buddy. Only 50 invited!!! We were all cheering and singing. Also the sound is not from Microphones in the general area, but are directly from Frank so only crowd sounds were picked up from that Mic. It was great!!! Left work early in the AM with a buddy and put on a great noontime buzz and yelled and sang. Also got invited to his second short set a year later, at the Boston Globe, which was low key.
The reason Frank Turner is one of the best song writers in the world is because he writes them with such emotion! When he plays Redemption, you can tell that this song has such meaning and that's what makes it so perfect!
Trust me, the crowd was hardly quiet. There were only about 50 of there, and it was live radio. He was one of the nicest performers I've ever met, came out and talked to the crowd, stood for pix, etc. (He's also really tall! I didn't expect that.)
I think the fact that they're dead is that because it's a radio show being broadcast they'd ask them to be quiet during the songs, like most live concerts that are played on radio.
You don't hear much from the crowd because the audio feed from the mic is turned up (because it was live on the radio), plus there was only about 50 people there (it was a private performance). Trust me. The crowd was not dead.
