Great show. Man that Mark Whitfield does some outside playing. Really stretched my ears. Great contrast to the other great players up on that stage. Love this series.
The 3 of you sound great together and alone also. I met Mark years back, and I've met Frank (you might remember?) I have not met Rodney yet. I have not been to NYC for a while, but plan on coming back in. The Wednesday nights at Birdland is definitely on my schedule! Thanks!!
Withfield, Jones with some serious phrasing and noodeling-issues!!! Very unusual! Mazzaroppi plays with such ease!!! As Vignola, Rosenthal and of course Cherico...
Thks again for this great concert. I hope Frank Vignola will keep on these great concerts as long as possible. Everytime i.m looking forward to listen. Thks Frank Vignola for doing this concerts and everytime you have those great guest musicians at the bandstand, they wanne play because you are a great guitarplayer, and moti vator inspirator and also because i think that you are a very friendly en kind person.. Am i wrong? I don,t think so but tel me This was an amazing concert again those geusts Rodney and Mark played continuesly real good stuff. Wow man . Off course all the musicians are really bad ass i would like to describe each of them, but then the story becomes to long Grtzz from Holland, the land of Frank,s brother jimmy
Love Frank's tone and chops, the piano player is fantastic, Rodney Jones is like that ! Killer band ! Something about Marks tone that didn't cut through the mix on his solos but sounded loud when he was comping 🤔 Oh well !
absolutely interesting and funny how vignola and whitfield playing is different ,the first seems a banker totally correct and cool, the second is bluesy emotional. dirty sometime like kessel, dont minds some mistake, lol ciao from italy
Nice session to listen to. Rodney the one with a vocabulary. However, chops at times were struggling. Mark, struggling chops through the whole session. Both clearly influenced by the great master guitarist "George Benson ". This is the first time I heard of or listened to 3rd guitarist, Frank. Seasoned and nice tone... The pianist was interesting and nice to listen to. Overall, I enjoyed listening to this session.
@edjackson4986 It's interesting that my personal opinion and observation of this session brought forth your response . Whether I can play better or not is not at play here. But as a listener, do I have the right to comment, or should folk like you be allowed to affect or intimidate the rights of people to have an opinion. We nay agree or disagree with an opinion, but thank God for that right. BTW......I do and can play....
@@essenceofelq I agree with you 100% You don't have to be a chef to know that your are being fed crap. Yes, Jones is the one with the vocabulary, His lines are difficult to play by most but he pulls it off well. Mark, I don't know what's going on with him lately. And yes I can play this stuff too.
