(For those who doesnt know) the interviewer is of course Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane/Starship..Frank once said ina interview that Jefferson Airplane was one of the groups that did it for the money..though he did actually record with them in 1968 for a piece called "would you like a snack? " which was never released at the time ( but is featured as a bonus track on jeffersons 'crown of creation cd and their box set )
putte2006 Jefferson Airplane man how down can you go. Beginning with amazing songs like White rabbit and Somebody to love and end with We build this city.
his words destroyed the disco generation. his words destroyed the hippie generation... zappa paved the way for artists to seek out what they loved... fuck the corporate, fuck radio, and fuck mtv... he re-established the first amendment. zappa's gift to the world... say whatever the fuck you want to say... just say it artistically...
frank zappa is a fucking hack and a terirble artist. He has no good songs, he’s unfunny, he constantly acts superior and fuels the smug egos of his mindless drone fans. fuck him
have you ever thought why you dance in a party or club? let me tell ya....most times you dance without reason and this sir is what makes you a FOOL a dancin'fool yeah thats right...
Ouch! This is so freaking trainwreckish. God bless Grace Slick, I'll love her till the end, but boy she sure was not cut out to be TV celebrity... And Frank is having none of it... Gawd, compellingly embarrassing...
I disagree with the comments about hte interview being "GREAT" !!! Duh ? Zappa is visibly bored to death and uneasy, and Grace seems no less bored by her own questions. Interviewing Zappa in the middle of all that noisy crowd is already a fatal error in itself....the whole thing is so 80s, and so wrong !! And there are so many great interviews with appa on you tube, I can easily rate this as the worst !!
yeah,,, i think he was maybe more comfortable with people outside of the RnR environment?... he looks in a best mood with a policeman than with all that crowd and the rocker girl. and.. i can understand that, indeed...
"Their stupidity does not amaze me, its when they're smart that amazes me. It's baffling whenever you find someone who's smart - incredible. Soon you'll have zoos for such things....stop laughing."
Grace mentions Shooty Babbitt at the end of the interview. He played baseball for Oakland in '81 only. Also, I've seen publicity pics in '81 with FZ wearing that same outfit. Could be '81, then...?
Yes,I agree with some of the comments...But by 1981, MTVkids were more into quick flash music (the ramones or Billy Idol) than respecting a rock icon, and very intelligent dame like grace. Alot of kids then barely knew the airplane , or the mothers!! Yowsa!
Lol i'm a huge fan of both these Amazing artist's love em both(: It does appear there's some friendly tension here but... I Do rember Frank saying he didn't like Airplane because they used the F-Word for shocking purposes on there Volunters album or something like that but either way i'm sure in the end they both had respect for each other. And Frank like's to poke fun at his fellow musicians to(:
Guitarstring: "Soon they will have zoo's of smart people..." If they did, they could make quite a bit of money. Since, the people paying to see them, would be stupid. Shit, look at the average consumer, stupid is an understatement.
At 1:20-1:30...she says that she knows of only 2 rock stars that dont do drugs...Frank Zappa and Gene Simmons...just then, someone says, "Michael Jackson" and she agrees and says, "Michael Jackson? Yea...you're probably right there". My my my how time tells all.
Raap123 imo disco is only good for clubs that's it imo disco music is like dairy for your soul it doesn't vibrate that high like jazz and classical music does in general
Some serious self massage though.. I've relaxed my shunning of her lately though. Heard her and others talk about the great society airplane and her strange trip. But I also shunned her for 'We Built This City' arguably the worst song ever. Top three. And. She agreed. I welcome her back.. Frank lol get a job getta a good getta good job and be real rich.. my name is Bobby brown...
Never sold himself?? Whatever.. Strictly Commercial. And I agree he was tough. Tough enough to get into hell. Hell? He was with Warner Bros for 8 fukin years!
