Always a Pleasure to 'see' another Grant!...esp one w similar great taste in music!! ahem....I must say that the first track hooked me and floated me right in....Amazing!...and, unmistakable Style must Ooze from his fingers. Kinda makes me want to find the old 'Scott/Clark or Mitchell'??!!'(mem fails atm) headphones. You know the ones, I'm sure!? Tan color and Bulky!! lol Thank you!
@@1Gskillet hi Grant!! I. believe you’re thinking of the old David Clark cans, I must admit the very image of those headphones makes me envious of anyone with a set. I must say that the only reason I knew (being 22) is that I’m a huge nerd LOL.
Just thank you!!! Zappa Fans are rare nowadays... In my eyes, this is the very best music and very best musician/COMPOSER ever!!! Love to all Zappa fans!!
That’s why Zappa concerts were two hours or more. You got to see Frank, tongue in cheek satirist, Frank the instrumentalist that is all picks and pedals, tearing it up. And finally Frank the innovator, always coming up with something different. Worth the price for a ticket every time. Gone but in no way forgotten.
I had a chance to meet Frank in Moscow in Stas Namin's music centre back in 1989. We talked for awhile about music and he shook my hand and gave me a hug. He acted like a down to earth guy without that big star bullshit. It was an unforgettable experience! Great man!
Completely bloody marvelous; I recall when I bought "Freak Out" my parents thought I was nuts, later on my kids did too. I am just so very glad to have been alive during the whole of Frank Zappa's musical life. Saw The Mothers live in Manchester UK, it was Flo and Eddie on shared vocals, I think Ainsley Dunbar on drums. Lastly, I went to live in LA and to actually tread some of the spots FZ had written about. Thank you very much for this.
🙀 Frank was a true Artist. He was a brilliant guitarist, a superb composer, a matchless bandleader, a movie producer, a record company executive, a human rights activist and an incomparable social satirist. He was a prolific workaholic who left behind a staggering body of work. His subsequent solo work encompassed everything from jazz-rock to orchestral pieces, always delivered with Zappa's trademark humor. He has been acclaimed as a genius for his versatility, and although genius is an overused word in music, it applies to Zappa in spades. Thank you for continuing to keep Franks legacy very much Alive .... BTW, great compilation here ~ thank you for sharing! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Do you personally think that you are underrated as a guitarist ? " I think that I shouldn't be rated as a guitarist. I think that rating a guitarist is a stupid hobby. I am a composer, willing to take chances with a composition, live on stage, in front of an audience and just go out there and have the nerve, the ultimate audacity, to not know what I'm going to play and try something new, and we will have an adventure together. There is no way to rate that." " Without deviation (from the norm), progress is not possible." - FZ
A musical savior! I had reverted back to listening to thunder over ocean waves 10 hour loops I had given up on ALL music / music burnout and now this fell into my universe like a neutron star going 💥
Saw Zappa in Miami 81. He sat on a bar stool that night very chill and just played. Was blown away at how good he really was. Thanks FZ for the experience.
Zappa's good and fun to listen to. Gotta say he's not exceptional, not "very good" on guitar. Like Gerry Garcia, it's the halo effect of fame and the synergy of their respective bands that gets us thinking they're "very good". Listen close to John Mayall's "Beano" album or to Richard Thompson's electric guitar playing (his acoustic is also exceptional). Very good guitar is way beyond Zappa or Garcia. -Doug Pratt, Atlanta, Georgia, USA
Me and my 14yr old daughter played Willie the Pimp, after my brother in law suggested listening to some Frank Zappa...I am now hooked! In the words of my 14yr old "that gnarly guitar song" has become a favorite jam!
Started back in 68, will never stop listening to frank the mothers and all. Incedible musicians and music stratospheric.thankyou for the upload. PEACE!
Seit ich 14 bin höre ich zappa. Jetzt bin ich 67 und höre ihn immer noch. Hot rats. Vermutlich viele hunderte male. Das was du hier mit deiner arbeit »out of the box« gemacht hast ist wirkich großartig. Grüße von österreich. Nicht von australien. Sondern von österreich, wo mozart war. :))
I saw Frank in '72 at Gannon College. He showed up with a bass player and two drummers. He played exactly one guitar riff, about 3 seconds, and spent the remainder of the "show" fooling with a rubber chicken. He did "sing" a bit too.
I first heard Zappa in 1968 I was 14 Mother Freak Out Lumpy Gravy and saw hi in NYC on Halloweens. I have listened to this recording 20 times in just a few months. Great production.
F**kem if they don't! It's just because they are gullible and don't appreciate real music and art. I'll guarantee that Frank used no computers or digital sampling to create real music. 😎
Because Frank was a creative genius, he had the ability to improvise/jam/riff endlessly. If you were an attentive listener, I swear his playing could put you in a very pleasurable trance and take you to musical "places" hitherto unexplored .....
He really had a jazz attitude as far as never repeating a solo He admitted he hates all his recorded solos because of their frozen in time nature...... He knew he had a certain space to improvise and did it in the NOW Great way to try and live in THE NOW
I have been trying remember your name , loved your compilations, and tonight I really needed it...I'm 76 and off to my next adventure moving to N Michigan to area I know very well and my fav place earth is but a few strokes of a paddle on the South Branch of the Au Sable River. I"m going to be in a lovely place meeting new people , never been a problem for me raised in the restaurant business you learn early to always give a hardy hand shake . Hello br1, I just heard the fantastic 6 cd/3 concert box set 'Erie'. I'm usually late to the game on new releases but I got to hear this one the other day and it's a goodie! You construct the BEST commercials for Frank's albums on the internet... period! Your compilations, extractions, and Genetic Modifications are second to none! You make the muffin better. Stay well friend!
Amazing addition to the Zappa listening experience, a fascinating sonic tapestry. Thank you so much for putting this together and sharing with us lucky people.
When I was in college Zappa did an album and tour called Shut Up And Play Your Guitar. Best concert I ever saw and I saw the Kinks and The Who and Heart and Van Halen.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, So damn good!! Thanks for this gift to the comunity man. We hopefully will be listening to this masterpiece for a another century... Always happy to see there're still people appreciating this with every cell of their body... Thank you again.
Been into Zappa since the 70'. He could do it all & did. Not easy in this big world to find people that appreciate his music. I think it's too much music for alot of people. That's cool but they are missing out on it.
I’ve been listening to Frank since I was seven years old (1978) and somehow, there is always something I haven’t heard! This was like the perfect set of God Zappa at his best! Thank you!!
He had an exceptional natural capacity of intellect, especially as shown in his creative and original work, an absolute musical genius! Thank you Frank, for your beautiful mind opening music! GOD BLESS RIP
I grew up on Zappa and was always fascinated by his wash wash solos. I love to practice my guitar soloing to Zappa solos. Just playing alongside gives me new insights and ideas. I recently read his own description of his soloing concepts - he said he uses the Pentatonic scale, minor scale and modal playing. That lead me to learning scales and modes on guitar. Listening to his longer solos one can begin to experience his "musical thinking" in action. Thanks for putting this up on RU-vid.
Zappa will be like JS Bach, unappreciated and unknown for decades, 50 years from now historians will realize that he was far superior as a 20th century composer. Only major dudes survive the test of time
It is another beautiful day for you to share your love of the genius Frank Zappa. I, as well as many fans, look so forward to this and thank you for your ingenuity and time in compiling these great works. Hats off to you 🎩🎸🍻
What a magician on guitar has us left. I never saw him live, because I grow up behind the iron curtain. But I live his music since I was 16. The music survived my marriage and other disasters. 😉 Sorry, what I forgot: Thank you br1tag for your work!
