I went through that several times about thirty years ago while stationed at Ramstein. About three years ago my wife and I went there on a two week Germany vacation. Thank you for that great tour.
Thanks for the vicarious experience Joe. As close as I'll ever get to Castle Fronk- n -Steen. That place has a beautiful view but must have been cold as ice in Winter!!
This doesn't look like the Castle Frankenstein I visited in Darmstadt. It had two towers, a small chapel in the courtyard, a kitchen, the laboratory, and the area outside where he did the lightning experiments. Most of that was closed at the time. The small chapel has a stone carving of The Real Frankenstein (the warrior), and it was said to be haunted by his wife who committed suicide after he died from falling off his horse and breaking his neck. There was also a modern restaurant on the top. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BmbUN-VnA9c.html
Very nice video. Reminds me of the ruined Pocitelj Castle over the Neretva river in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I climbed all the way up the tower and had a hell of a time getting back down. The stone stairs were more like a stone ladder...
