This shows the operation of the Frankford Arsenal DS-750 Electronic Scale. This scale is an inexpensive and fairly reliable gun powder scale. I have had this scale for over 3 months and have used it probably every week. It is easy to calibrate and use. The only compliant is when trickling powder onto the scale, is seems to pause or hang up and I put in to much powder and have to go back and remove some. It seems I need to go slower that I would like. But it works great for checking the powder charge that comes out of the Powder Measure.

Just for a little more accuracy, you should probably use the scale (this one or any one) on a hard flat surface and not on the flap of the carry case.

even though it is just a demo, yes flat hard surface. anything , well almost naything is better than the lee...

Great review, thank you, that saved me from reading the directions!

I just bought one of these, and your explanation of how to run it was GREAT. Thank you. I got tired of constantly having to zero my Dillon beam scale after our precious grandkids found out it would move the beam up or down. Again, nice job.

Spray the Pan With some Anti Static spray & your Powder will not stick to the Pane any more etc.

I've got one of these. It's great for assembling lots of ammo fairly quickly if I don't want to wait for the beam balance to settle, or for taking on the road with a Lee Loader, but from experience I can't trust it to read closer than 0.2 grains either way. Not something I'd use for assembling precision target ammo, but very useful for checking at a glance that your powder dispenser or scoop isn't throwing gross over-charges. What sold it for me and still does are versatility and portability.

Really glad you made this video! I am getting one for sorting air-gun pellets. I am not sorting for competitive shooting, so I did not feel it necessary to spend over $200.00 for one. I just like to check consistency of new tins sometimes. Learned a lot here!:) Happy/Safe Shooting, agw.

I double check my Powder Loads with my Beam Scale also, Better Safe than Sorry, When working with any Powders etc.

Thanks for the video! Saved me digging in the manual. As a quick tip, you can just weigh the 50 gram weight at the start and if it says 771.6 grains then you're good to go. I still like to calibrate mine anyway from time to time in case the drift is less than a 1/10th of a grain anyway.

I bought mine at Midwayusa and it works very well. I also use the RCBS scale pan since it's pointier and all I have to do is to zero with the pan and works good. There may be other good scales out there but this one works very good for me. Thank You for this video and God Bless.

You shouldn't touch the calibration weight with your bare hands, because this will throw the weight off with time. I guess the accumulation of oil of your skin. At work we have tweezers to pick them up when we calibrate our digital scales. Clean yours with an alcohol pad and don't touch it with you bare hands again.

Good eye Jason! I didn't even notice that. Yes smalltown, your scale should be on an even surface. But also don't touch the calibration scale with your bare hands.

Hey Smalltown442, It's been a couple years now. Are you still liking this scale??? I'm thinking about picking one up and wanted to hear from someone who's had some time with it. You still dig it, or have you moved on to something else?

Rico11b , Yes, I am still happy with this scale. It is still the scale I use today. I haven't seen the need for a different scale and it is way faster than a Balance beam.

Try wiping the pan with a clothes dryer sheet Or the spray that they make also.? This will knock out the static in the pan,That is causing the powder to stick.? "WORKS FOR ME"
@CountryViewAcres
@CountryViewAcres 8 лет назад
that sounds like a good suggestion. the "static cling" ended up going away eventually.

And can you put on an empty rifle case.? zero it out & then put your powder into the case while on the scale.? To get an accurate load reading.?

I bought my scale for less than $30. I still use it today. I have weighed my rifle cases with it, so I would say you can do what you are suggesting. but the case would tip over easy not being in a reloading tray.

+smalltown442 Although thats true with rifle cases ... I use Redtails technique when i am loading 9 mm with a powder that doesnt meter well .. say I need 6.2 Grains of the powder in the case, I weight the case .. say its 53.8 gr. I use the powder measure to dump in say 5.5 gr and trickle the rest until I get the combined weight of 60 gr .. 53.8 gr ( case ) + 6.2 gr ( powder ) I find this more accurate and easier then using the powder tray ..

Thank you for showing how to calibrate this! Note: it's also sold as "RangeMaxx Mini Digital Reloading Scale" at other outlets.

That's right, only on Cabela's website the Frankford Arsenal one gets good reviews, the Rangemaxx whick looks exactly the same gets crap reviews.
