All of those bells you were hearing were part of the 4 X a year, "Pealing of the Bells". This is 50 bells in 10 churches, ringing for 30 min. You were here on the day before Easter, which is one of the 4 times they ring. You were not in the "Turkish" section of Frankfurt, you were in the Red Light District. :-) Wish you would have come on a walking tour with us at "Frankfurt on Foot" and we could have shown you even more cool things about Frankfurt during your short visit. Glad you enjoyed the city, it truly has a lot to offer.

Elisa Briones this was April and it was still chilly! In the 40s. So def bring a heavy coat for January. Enjoy! It’s a gorgeous city.

I long to go to Frankfurt for the Struwwelpeter Museum (Which I'm guessing wasn't around at the time this video was being filmed, but it's currently situated in the building at the far back at 8:30 - you can even see Peter on the window)!

Hi! I'm going (hopefully lol) to Denmark next January, and I'll probably have a layover in Frankfurt, for like 20 hours. I'll be traveling with one piece luggage, a carry-on and a personal item. Do you recommend me to go visit Frankfurt? I'm not sure if I'll be safe as a solo female traveller

Yes it is safe! I recommend staying at the Five Elements Hostel - it's walkable to everything and very sociable place to meet other travelers. You can get a private room too or share with others. All the areas that I show in this video were totally safe - except the part where we exited the Hauptbahnhof train and the red light district - just be aware of your surroundings in those areas and avoid them at night while solo and you will be good!

Hi, did you feel like you hostel would be safe for a solo, female traveler?

Yes I was safe in Frankfurt - the hostel is extremely friendly and there's lots of great group activities you can join. The area where you need to be cautious is exiting the Hauptbahnhof. At 0:44 you can see I turned the camera off, it is because it was extremely sketchy. So be careful of your belongings / walking around there at night.

Frankfurts history can be traced back to pre roman era, the Kaisers of the Holy Roman Empire were crowned in the Dom. The main square you referred to, is called Römerberg. Just for a little bit of reference the sausages you ate are not Frankfurters but are wieners. A proper frankfurter is a lot thicker and are known as rindswurst or beef sausage.
