I’m 19 years old and my dad left around 11 or 10 and I am still hurt ! I just had a mental broke down ! I was up that night when him and my mom separated . They was arguing because she caught him with a second phone the phone he was cheating on her with so I witnessed everything my brothers and sister was sleeping but me the youngest I witnessed it all I watched him pack his bags I even chased him down the hallway while he was leaving with his bags and yelled out “daddy please don’t go” and he stopped and gave me one last hug and I watch him leave .. I went back inside laid with my mom and cried myself to sleep! After that we had to move in the hood in a low income apartment when they separate now that me and my siblings are older we help out with bills but my mom still struggles and I just break down every time asking God why life had to turn out this way! Everything was so perfect back then . Specially with BOTH parents but my mom try her very best and I love her so much.

I had a father growing up Buh honestly speaking it felt like I didn’t cause he never did anything for me he use to beat on my mother and treated me like shit. All I wanted was his love and him to acknowledge me Buh he never did so I carried that hurt all throughout life with me and he left outta my life when I was 10 years old. And I never payed attention to how my mother put up with him just for him to stick around for me since my brothers parents was in jail. And I regret putting her through all that torment. And ever since he still don’t check on me. He missed my graduation prom and everything, and he lied about coming. So I understand how you feel Buh it does get easier to cope with the pain. Buh it’s better not to have one then have one who treat you like you nonexistent

Song is insanely good. Grew up to Frankie J and I just cant like any other R&B artist the same way. He has 3 different versions of a father leaving I hadnt noticed till now. One who just walks out, one who has their father taking their last breath, and one who is leaving to serve. This is a touching, powerful music video unlike R&B people nowadays.

I see a lot of you have never had a father that was there and turned their back on you. Til this day I can’t find the answer why a man would walk away from his child. The day I found out my gf was pregnant I was scared. I was scared through the whole pregnancy but when I saw her for the first all the fear went away. I promised my daughter no matter where life takes us I will always be there. I will never turn my back on her. I fell in love with her the moment I saw her. The moment she was born and was crying I told I will never let anyone hurt her. And til this day I keep that promise. I don’t get how dad can just walk away from a beautiful child. Just because it didn’t work out with the mom doesn’t mean you can’t be there.

My dad abused my mom till I was 2 yrs. She took me and my little brother away from him. Never saw him again, then she took her anger and frustrations out on us through abuse she got with another man when I was 4 then cheated on him with another man when I was 6. The last man didnt want us and abused us. Then my mom finally gave use both up by the time i hit 12. I grew up in shelters and a my grandma back and fourth by the time I was 15 I be came a workaholic, I am now 25 in dec and I always had a job and my own place. Now I am expecting my first child I just found out its a girl. My baby daddy is a good man and I hope with everything we are together forever through thick and thin, richer or poorer, sickness and in health. I love you Nelson and Nelany.

Denyuhh i feel your pain ,my dad got deported to mexico when i was 4 and i moved with him a year later and i stayed for like 2 years so i was 7 when i left and i havent seen him since but i am 15 years old now and about 2 years ago he used to call on the phone to talk to me , but we list contact and i never got a call back

Wow as a father this song brings tears to my eyes every time. I lost my kids. I lost my 8yr old son my 5yr old daughter and my 2yr old son. My ex wife was physically abusive and mentally abusive to myself and my children. Well she turned it all around on me and filed for a divorce. Now she tells the kids I hate them and don't love them. I love my babies so much and miss the only thing that matters the most to me in this world. So any after out there hold your babies tight and love them and NEVER let go. 😢💔💔

Talk to him about it... Be open and say things from your heart. If you had a bond like that..... He hurts as much as you do. I have a bond with my little girl... And if we ever lost that bond it would hurt to no end..... I would do anything to get it back... So be brave.... And talk to him. Even if you just run up to him for a hug. We as parents get busy and lose our ways. So remind him of the running to him and jumping into his arms. Nothing would hurt me more then to lose my little girl

Luckily my parents are still married after 37 years. Unfortunately after 10 years and 2 awesome boys my marriage fell apart. Here I am stronger than ever rasing my kids alone. I remember right after my seperation I told him I am leaving you please don't walk away from our kids. He did just that and to this day he blames me. Divorce is never easy on kids rather it impacts them right then and there or later in life. I think as a single mom I am doing my best both my boys skipped the 6th grade and have been on the honor roll every year. Just because your marriage ends doesnt mean being a parent does. Never walk away from your child especially when they need you the most.

My dad and mom separated when i 4 and i rarely saw my dad afterwards. Finally almost 5 yrs he had decided that he wanted to see me and my brother and be in our lives. He called my mom and they were talking about meeting up. And then he died the next day. Now im 18 and ive grown up okay with my mom but my life will always feel empty with out my dad here with me
