When I was 10 or 11 years old my mother took me to see him at the Italian fest in Chicago. He was singing "My eyes adored you" he looked down at me and I waved, he waved back and I let out the loudest scream ever and he busted out laughing in the middle of the song. I have loved him since. I can't wait to take my 12 year old daughter to see him in April. A family tradition carried on...,
OMG Thank you so much for posting this video. I searched for years trying to find it. I was the little girl sitting on Frankie Vallie's lap. From the looks of thing, I guess I really didn't want to have anything to do with him especially the kiss at the end. LOL @foxyroxstar It was because of how I chewed my gum was why Frankie picked me. He thought it was cute. And back in '65 when it was shot, there was no Internet and RU-vid so who knew it would be viewed by so many.
That's amazing!! You'll never forget that, that was really nice of Frankie to do. As someone who is personal friends with their own idol, I know exactly what the experience is like :)
He is OUR NEWARK NJ LEGEND!! YOU KNOW WE LOVE U FRNKI! !! STILL AWESOME ..MY DADDY JUST PASSED THIS MAY 10 2017 HE PLAYED FRANKIE S MUSIC WHILE HE WAS, SICK W MOUTH CANCER AND IT GAVE HIM JOY TO THINK OF THE GODD OLD DAYS FROM OUR HOMETOWN NEWARK. .I LOVE YOU DAADDY ALWAYS AND FRANKI YOU ARE THE BEST!!!♡♡♡
This is one of the greatest Four Seasons songs they ever did, and certainly was a huge hit during 1966. It is so delightful to see the Four Seasons getting the attention and recognition they have deserved all of these years, as one of the most important groups in the early 60's and helped to form a new type of music called "pop-rock" that brought many great groups such as the Beach Boys, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Byrds, The Moody Blues, The Dave Clark Five, Herman's Hermits and a whole host of others. Let us not forget the great Motown Groups that followed the Seasons such as The Temptations, The Shirelles, The Supremes, The Four Tops, and so many other great vocal groups that helped to make the 1960's. one of the greatest for music ever! Those great days listening to AM top 40 radio on your American or Japanese transistor radio - Wow, the Four Seasons probably more than any other group, helped to usher in this new type of music - not hard rock and not rock-a-billy, but something new!
Perhaps my favorite Four Seasons song and that's saying something given their great collection of work. Loved them in the day and still enjoy their music today.
I had 5 older sisters and they all LOVED Frankie and The Four Seasons. Brings back great memories of them singing along, dancing and swooning over Frankie!
A incredible singer.. A gifted talented genius.... There was not a note he couldn't hit.. His range was extraordinary.. Opus 17 shows us how good he is on note and vocal range.. A absolute fantastic artist..... and a fantastic group.. That performed other great songs also.. Frankie valli... A icon of pure excellence..... Thank you....
@kristinehatkinson7323 yes.. I know knew it was the seasons as a group effort. They was a great group I was commenting on frankies vocal talents as the front singer for the group.
That's how life was back then, you could be nice to a kid and not have people think you're pervert. I happen to know Frankie and he is one of the most decent humans beings I ever met.
Great group and this is my favorite song of The Four Seasons, and my second favorite song of all time behind only Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Rock Around the Clock is my 3rd favorite.
I used to stay home from nursery school to watch Where The Action Is with my teenaged sister. Good times. Then I had this 45 with Beggar's Parade on the flipside. That was a rare, but good political song for the 4. This song brought a lot of happiness and dancing to my friends and me. The little girl in the video? She's just very nervous.
This is one of my favorites by the Four Seasons. They were the first concert I saw on my own as a teen. It was at the Lambertville music Circus in Lambertville NJ.
How did I know that listening to this song in '77, that it would come to pass. I used to cry listening to this thinking about how that must hurt....now I know. Life is funny huh?
On this day in 1966 {May 15th} "Opus 17 (Don't You Worry 'Bout Me)" by the Four Seasons entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #13... It was preceded and succeeded on the Top 100 by Four Season's records that both peaked at #9; "Working My Way Back To You" and "I've Got You Under My Skin"...
Frankie was really cool at noticing the unnoticeable. I saw a very old clip of his from the 60’s and he kept smiling and paying attention at this young black teenage girl. There were all these really pretty white girls vying for his attention but he did not pay them any attention. This was the ‘60s black girls were invisible unless they were in a band. I think this girl must have carried those moments with her for the rest of her life. I certainly would have.
This video was so sweet. The little girl is adorable and it was so sweet to see how nice FV was to her. It reminded me of a more gentle time in our country's history. Sadly, the world seems a much colder place. Thank you for posting this.
Dude, Before I read your final paragraph, I was very pissed off about your remarks. Then, after reading ALL of what you had to say, and also, 'inflections and nuances', I say this. (Word picture before statement). I'm a 66 year old married, straight Australian bloke. My Jillian, my Wife of 45 years, and I, exist for each other. She is not the first love of my life, in youth there are dalliances., Know this. I exist for her My Jill. My visceral, cellular existence, she whose breath I listen to as she sleeps on her back in our double bed, I give thanks to my God for her smell, breath, sound, touch, smile, sound, her laugh, her magnificient blue eyes, ...and so, so much more. I am, truly, a fortunate man.
Love Frankie 😊 me and a couple of girlfriends drank cognac after the show with him in New Zealand at then Hotel Intercotinental where they were staying many years ago.Such a down to eartstaying. He even sang Ive got you under my skin to me lol.Precious memories
I think that this is the only black and white footage of Mr frankie valli and the four seasons with the original audio on it. It's a shame that these archive videos haven't been digitally remastered and fresh audio put on it. Thank you so much for posting this classic video its very much appreciated 👍👌
Rosie Varela Frankie didn't write the song. He doesn't usually write for the band, that was Bob Gaudio and Bob Crewe's job. But sometimes they would get other writers.
On this day in 1966 {May 30th} the Four Seasons were guests on the nationally syndicated television program, 'The Mike Douglas Show'... At the time their "Opus 17 (Don’t You Worry ‘Bout Me)" was at position #19 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart, three weeks later it would peak at #13 {for 1 week} and it spent eight weeks on the Top 100... Between 1962 and 1994 the New Jersey quartet had forty-two records on the Top 100 chart, fourteen made the the Top 10 with five reaching #1, "Sherry" for 5 weeks in 1962, "Big Girls Don't Cry" for 5 weeks in 1962, "Walk Like A Man" for 3 weeks in 1963, "Rag Doll" for 2 weeks in 1964, and "December 1963 {Oh What A Night}" for 3 weeks in 1976... Their forty-second and last charted record was a re-mix of "December 1963", it peaked at #14 in 1994... And as the Wonder Who? they had four records make the Top 100 chart, with their covered version of Dylan's "Don't Think Twice" peaking at #12 in 1965... In 1956 using the name, the Four Lovers, they reached #62 with "You're the Apple of My Eye"... Original bass singer/bass guitarist Nick Massi, born Nicholas Macioci, passed away at the age of 65 on December 24th, 2000... May he R.I.P.

O love frankie valli and the four seasons all of there songs are amazing and make you feel good as much as I can relate to them and this song is my personal top 1 favorite
What a class sound this was and is my all time favourite of this great group, and played on the Northern soul scene and a major mod classic stupendous I love it and always will Pat Allen the Burnley & Pendle Soul Club
Susan Lazzaro- You're so lucky and if that girl really is you then you must have had blast at a young age while being right next to Frankie Valli. I wish I could've been there because even though I'm years old I grew up listening to old fashioned music since third grade and still do today. I love all genres of music from the '50s, '60s, '70s, '80s, and '90s in my own opinion any music before my time was where the real music is at because music from back then had a certain unique quality, authenticity, and had profoundly moving stories that were told so people can make connections with them through their own personal life experiences. That's what so special about golden oldies because you don't really hear that in the music of nowadays and even though I'm of this generation I'd rather listen to music that's compelling, authentic, has unique quality, tells a story, and so that I can make a personal connection through my own life and I believe that's why music from back then is still popular. Every time I'm on RU-vid whenever I watch a classic song I always end seeing posts from people my age saying I grew up in the wrong decade, why am I in this decade, music of nowadays sucks, music from back then is real music, and I wish I could have been around back then where there was real music. To be honest I couldn't agree more and I appreciate retro clothing and retro hairstyles from the '40s, '50s, '60s, '70s, '80s, and the '90s because like the music from those decades the hairstyles and clothing had unique quality and it was always something new in which nowadays it's just random modern fashion trends. As a young man of this generation I would just like to say to you and every single living person on RU-vid I'm an Average Joe/Nerd and I love the oldies music, clothing, and hairstyles and I don't care who knows it because that's gonna be my fashion trends for the rest of my life :)
My father worked for ABC and I went to a lot of these "where the action is shows" when they were filmed in NY. Years later I got to go to a few Bananarama shows. I was on the set of Dark Shadows. I did a lot of stuff with my dad with ABC,
This is from an appearance on Dick Clark's "Where the Action" is, a musical variety show that aired daily on ABC from June 28, 1965 to March 31, 1967. The dancers in the background are the show's in House troupe, The Action Kids. The brunette dancer on the right is Lesley Evans, who later played a nurse on the series "MASH." The blonde on the left is Roberta Tennes.
Seems like it was a tough song to dance to. Or maybe they didn't have enough room between the audience and the Seasons for their usual frenetic dance moves.
Thx Ed, since my posting I did some research and learned about Joe Long, but I wasn't aware that he wasn't included as a member of the Seasons in their Hall of Fame induction.. That is really sad and am disappointed in Valli and Gaudio as they could of surely included him.
You can hear the start of Bobby Vee’s Take good care of my baby at the end of this video and you can even watch the very performance on Classic Sterio hits channel the one that played right after this
@jhunter1163 I'm a guitar player. I think the key changes what makes it a great song. It starts in the key of F# and shifts five times ending on B using Keys F# G Ab A Bb and B. Each key change fuels the song ever slightly faster building a feeling of excitement. The song is like a race car going down a quarter mile drag strip shifting threw the gears. It grabs your attention and keeps it to the end.
