Fun little bit of history but none other than Joe Pesci (the actor, yes the one in Goodfellas and Home Alone) is responsible for introducing Tommy (the bands leader/founder) to Bob Gaudio (who joined the band) and was responsible for writing pretty much all of their big hits(Sherry, Walk Like a Man, Big Girls Don't Cry, and even Franki's solo hit (Can't Take My Eyes Off You). Without Joe Pesci they would have never formed the four seasons with Bob and had all of those hit songs.
Heard this song before being covered by a duo called Madcon (2007). Anyone else remember?!?! Maybe it’s not the correct song. We shall see at 4am lol 😝
My dog kept begging me to pet him while I watched the premire of this video. I couldn't help to get a little laugh. I guess he liked the song too. I've heard of the group but I haven't heard this particular song, at least I don't remember. Good song.
I saw them perform this on a Cleveland TV show in 67'. 2 of the guys had Fu Manchoes and beards and looked like greasers. My hood was tough, and all the greasers were singing this.
Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons are legends. They have a long string of hits. Try Sherry, Big Girls Don’t Cry, walk Like A Man. The music of my time. Thx Ty
Pretty cool when you can have a song people are calling meh that's this good. Goes to show how high the bar is set for this group. They DO have many better songs, but this is pretty cool.
I LOVE Frankie Valli! He turned 85 last week and is STILL playing shows! I like this song but I think (personal opinion only) that some earlier songs (Big Girls Don't Cry, Sherry, Walk Like a Man) show off his and the Four Seasons vocal capabilities even more. I'm so happy you reviewed them at all! Thank you!
Both this, the original, and a cover version by a band called Timebox were big floor fillers in the early 70's and beyond in clubs in the North of England in a movement called Northern Soul which found a lot of minor hits and obscure recordings and in some cases made them hits sometimes long after they were recorded such as Tami Lynn's I'm Gonna Run Away From You or Timi Yuro's It'll Never Be Over For me.
This is far from their best song. The Four Seasons and Frankie Valli as a soloist had 7 No. 1 songs and 19 top ten songs, including many that charted in the top 5. Beggin just hit #16. You should check out their great catalogue of music.
@@jackl1908 I agree with you. I was just pointing out their extensive catalog of great songs. I know music is subjective to the listener, but the 4 Seasons were and still are one of my favorite groups.
Try their other hit The Night, next. A much loved track on the Northern Soul scene in the UK and Ireland..if you font know what Northern Soul is then thats worth investigating too.
I don't remember ever hearing this one. The song itself was meh, and the music overpowered it. Which was fine, because I really liked the music. Other Frankie Valli songs were much better, IMO.
#MRM, I know you are probably tired of me but just wanted to remind you that I still have those requests on your list. Would hopefully they make it to the ball soon. The most important one is Calypso by John Denver. I just know you are really gonna scratch your head with this one.
