Another great video, Tonya! I LOVE leather binders! And I love the way you showed how all the different planners looked in this one. I just ordered a Classic Vintage Aurora and I've got Season pages starting in July. Can't wait.
Thank you for yet another great demonstration, Tonya! Getting a closer look at these binders really helps. This is a gorgeous binder and I love the color, though I’m questioning FC’s “smaller” approach. Perhaps they’ve gotten lots of requests for them. As for your question about leather vs simulated leather, for me it’s leather for longevity. I used a simulated leather open binder of my husband’s some years back after he put it aside and while it did hold up for quite a while, it began peeling later on down the line. I hesitate to spend $$$ on something that may not last. I have my well used 20+ year old FC burgundy leather zipper binder that still looks like brand new. That’s the quality I look for and expect.
Hi Tonya! Very nice binder, goes with everything. I have both leather and synthetic leather binders and prefer the leather binders because they last longer with care and I just love the smell of leather to plastic. 😊👍✨🌹
Ooh. I’m interested in bounded planners. They have a slimmer profile and you don’t have to worry about storing extra planner pages. Thanks for watching. 👍🏽
I love FC is not assuming that all planners must have that full slash pocket in the back that's only good for a notepad. I've never used a notepad in the back in my life, having plenty of papers on the rings to do all that stuff. I avoid those with the slash pocket and go for versions that have a back pocket like this, or no pocket at all.
Thanks so much for showing the Alex up close. I also appreciate a smaller footprint in a zip. It may compare similarly to the Simon and Breckinridge classic zips. You know, the Wanderlust inserts would look good with this color Alex. I’m not an orange/brown lover, so I may consider the gray Alex at some point.
Hey Gretchen my friend. I appreciate the smaller footprint of the Alex too. I have my eye on the Wanderlust planner. I like that there are no times in the appointment schedule.
Thank you Tanya. I had considered purchasing this binder because it is my son’s name. My question is this: how do you find the smaller footprint size works when there are 2 pens, the planner monthly tabs, three months of daily planner pages (day on 2 pages), and the page finder tab sticking out the top? I like that FP are making smaller sizes of their classic planners but I feel that it is getting smaller for manufacturing without considering properly the space needed for the user. This planner binder really is quite handsome though and it looks so good with so many different planner pages as you so beautifully demonstrated. Thank you again. 💕
Hey! The binder fits all of those things for me! I appreciate the smaller footprint of this binder. I did see where someone commented that tabs that stick out of the top could hit against the zipper but if you use side tabs, that is not a problem. Thanks for watching. ☺️
I'm enjoying your channel and your thorough reviews. I was a faithful Daytimer and Franklin Covey planner for many years until I ordered a leather planner that had an awful chemical smell.. I tried for a very long time to get rid of this odor, but was unsuccessful. I was unable to use this planner and have since used other planning methods, but would just love to return to Franklin Covey. After watching your videos I was interested in purchasing this planner or the vintage aurora. My question is how is the smell? Is there a strong odor to these binders?
When I opened the Alex binder I did smell something but I can’t remember what. The leather is dyed so if you are sensitive to smell you might want to pass on the Alex binder. I actually prefer non leather binders and they rarely have a smell.
Hi Tonya! Thanks for the new video! I appreciate the time you took to show Alex's smaller footprint and measure the ring size for us. I'm happy with leather or simulated leather. My primary concern is the binder's usability and durability. I use a planner that my mom owned. It is probably 20+ years ago, and it is still in excellent condition! Tonya, have you used any of the Logan Binders? Since that's my name, I'm curious to learn more about that collection. Also, thank you so much for the discount code! I used it twice. Take care and enjoy the rest of your day. I look forward to your next video!
Wow! You have a binder that lasted 20 years!? That’s amazing. I’m not sure if they make them like that anymore. I don’t own the Logan binder. The dimensions of the Logan is similar to the Tyler binder so I will probably pass because I feel the Tyler is bulky. I must say the Logan is a very handsome binder. ☺️ I like the combination of brown and black. Thanks for using the code.
Logan, I’ve got the Logan open binder in Monarch size. It’s really too big to use as a carry around planner (for me) but it’s a beautiful binder. Top quality leather and such a classy look. I’m seriously considering ordering it in the Classic size, which is my size of choice.
Hi Tonya how does the Alex compare with the Anna in general (minus the zipper). Would you say it’s more compact. I love leather binders but always seem to end up with slimmer plastic, like an Avery mini binder. I can dream though
Good question. The Anna is the same height as the Alex. The Alex is a little wider. The Anna is the smaller binder. I'm like you, I end up using non leather binders the most.
