When AoE2 came out, it ran on my Grandma's computer. When AoE3 came out, it didn't run on my computer, or my parents', grandparents', or siblings' computers. I think that is likely the largest thing that prevented AoE3 popularity.
That was so crazily passive from red.. But honestly I feel it happened bcoz of the mental block.. Getting a match against Hera.. He will natural feel a bit intimidated and try to mass army and stuf..but it was just another lower rated player maybe he would have played with aggression.. And tbh thats why Hidden cup is such a successful event as it skips all this mental battle
against extreme ai you can make berserks too. AI don´t know how to handle this unit. no perfekt conter. and because ki just spamming units the berserk can regenerate
I tend to make fewer paladins but with throwing axemen to take care of the pesky halbs. The only paladin option helps avoid additional blacksmith and castle researches for the axemen, but I've had opponents absolutely mass stream their halbs which can make it heartbreaking watching expensive paladins fall.
would be nice if they make chivalry heal 15hp per min like aoe4. The current effect of chivalry comes in too late and is less impactful once you reach imperial age tbh.
That would be amazing, but it's not like the most popular civ needs any sort of buffs. There are many other forgotten features and civs that don't get any love
@@HeraAgeofEmpires2 I made a mod that make chivalry do that effect, 15hp per min is equal to berbers' camel. I've been testing it, and turned out it's pretty good, but not OP by any mean because halb and camel still wreck them pretty hard. They become better at tanking arrows and fighting other paladins actually. Their paladins ain't exactly any better than generic paladins, which is kinda sad. Since it's only available in imperial, their knights are still the same in castle age, so yeah....not op really.
Another game where Hera doesnt do anything until he has fully boomed 4tc economy and Imperial tech. It's a mutual boom fest, 2021 meta for you guys, skip to 22:00 for your conveniency.
@@Meloncov Yeah, they are obviously strong on all levels. What I was referring to is that most people at lower elos like to go for the same strategies every time and prefer civs that are especially strong in one aspect, so they pick Frank Paladins or Longbows. If you were to ask a low elo player about Franks vs. Chinese they would probably pick Franks, even though top players consider Chinese the most versatile civ in the game
@@rezak2 That's just the thing. It's not their only 'big strength' Throwing Axemen are surprisingly pretty good, fully upgraded champions and halbs, and they get bombard with siege engineers, and capped ram. Nobody ever uses them though because Frankish knights and paladins are so strong that not even camels are really an effective counter against them. The only thing that Franks don't really have are good archery range units since they miss both final upgrades, thumb ring, and parthian tactics.
@@rezak2 Yeah it's almost like their cavalry is way too strong. They have a diverse unit pool that never gets used because they can brute force an encounter with a single type of unit. They are extremely braindead to play.
i dont get why everyone thinks aoe 4 has bad graphics. Aside from the units looking like minions in league of legends and the questionable rally point fx, the landscapes and buildings are beautiful and everything's got 100x the resolution of this minecraft looking shit
Way to many clicks are necessary to be a good player in this "strategy" (more like a "the fastest clicker wins game") game. This is the reason why the rts-genre is so unpopular and games like civ 6 dominate.
Disagree, strategy and macro matters a Lot, even more the apm, see players like Daut, who have "low" apm compared with others good players but still is Very good
