The Father I never met, (war baby), this was his favourite military music. I hope he is listening in heaven. He fought, did his duty, and died. Thank you Daddy, for this gift you left us.
The conductor and orchestra actually understand Hungarians, hussars and the Era of cavalry, you can almost see the sabres flashing in the charge. Beautifully done, bravo!
Magnificently directed by this Conductor Franz Welser-Möst, I greatly appreciated this Light Cavalry, the Ancient Composers were Masters of Classical Music, they will remain eternally present on this planet. Congratulations to this beautiful orchestra and for this magnificently performed Concert. Standing Ovation ! ❤️✨ .. ❤️✨ .. ❤️✨ .. ❤️✨
I wouldn't exactly call him ancient, he was born 204 years ago. His house in Austria still stands, the building where his first composition was performed in very much still exists, etc. As for actual ancient music, only a few pieces are actually known since notation in inscriptions was very rare and only a few examples are known.
This is AWESOME!!!!!!!!! I can finally go to bed now, and sleep WELL. Such a delightfully spacious version of a piece which is all too often performed much too hastily.
You can’t go wrong with Cleveland. Majestic, nice and slow. Yet, full of energy. Light years ahead of the version I heard on WQXR a day or so ago, which was thin, rushed and with no oxygen.
This has been one of my most favourite pieces of classical music since I first heard it aged 5 yrs on the BBC "Music and Movement" radio programmes. We had to pretend we were riding horses and canter around to this music. Many years later, I became an officer in the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers, but one of my lifelong friends was a major in the Royal Northumberland Hussars and this always reminds me of him. He never could ride a horse, he should have joined the Navy!
even for Light Cavallerie this is much too light..more likely Para-Gliding in the Alps having a great Thermic which lifts you up over the peaks and down again, 2 of my grand uncles trained horses for the Swiss Cavallerie and my dad was in Transportation with horses in the Swiss Alps using Franche-Montagne Horses and Mules...best ride ever was in Worthing, UK West Sussex on the Beach horses running on hard sand is as fast as you can get.
Also ich belehre: Francesco Ezechiel Ermenegildo de Suppe. Also lizabethgussman lernen Sie ...guten Tag noch!
I often wonder, looking at professional musicians like these, what long and tedious training and practice they must undergo to perform in perfect unison with the orchestra mates. Bravo, folks.
von Suppé's music went out of fashion long, long ago, but some of the overtures survived, although even they seemed to fade away a few decades ago. It's good to see this and Poet and Peasant appearing on RU-vid (although most in inferior performances- a pity as the music is fun). This spirited performance is most enjoyable, and I particularly love the rich tone of the strings.
THANK YOU for posting The Cleaveland Orch one of the best, in my book equal to the Phila Orch under Ormandy. Thank You for sharing such wonderful music made by great men and women. A bless Christmas and a Peaceful NY to one and all Pax+
Quel bonheur !
Genial, graciaaaas.
In the music, I can feel the pounding of the hooves through the undulating saddles, see the sun flashing from the polished sabers through the swirling, dust and flying dirt clods, hear the brave shouts of doomed horsemen galloping past bloodied bodies of fallen comrades into the relentless artillery and into the certain death, glory and immortality that befell the tragic blunder of "The Charge of the Light Brigade."
@@kubanskiloewe Oh, Danke, umwerfendes "Argument".
¡Bravo!
