Hey jamal its pronounced kah-bah-yey just thought I'd help break it down for you I have that same funko as well as the black and white harlequin singlet version want to get brian, john and roger too gotta appreciate the rest of the band
She was a legend in Spain and he was a big fan. Singing with her was one of the final items on his bucket list-- she was thrilled and he wrote a full album for her. This was meant for the Olympics Opening, but was recorded earlier-- sadly he knew he was not going to make it to 1992. Epic, right??!
Yeah you're completely right, he told her he had AIDS and not to kiss him because little was known about HIV at the time but she did. Absolutely beautiful together
She said his was the greatest voice she'd ever heard. High praise indeed from one of the most celebrated opera singers in the world. And he said the same of her. They really were a beautiful vocal match.
Montserrat was a true Opera Diva. She and Freddie worked on a number of albums together. The fact that Freddie could hold his own against such a prodigously talented opera singer is simply amazing. In loosing Fredddie we lost one of the greatest entertainers, his stage craft was remarkable and his voice stupendous.
Spanish soprano, Montserrat Caballe was an operatic diva of the first order. Dubbed "La Superba" (the superb one) by the Italian public, she had an international career in concert and opera that started in the 1960's. Freddy was always an opera fan and specifically a fan of hers. The collaboration with her on this duet he said was a *dream come true". She was a true fan of his as well and spoke so glowingly of the experience of working with him and how he was such a special person. They originally recorded this duet way before the Barcelona Olympic games in 1992 and Freddy did not live long enough to sing it at the games but a video recording was used during the opening ceremonies. Montserrat Caballe never officially retired and passed away in 2018 at the age of 85. May they both sing endless duets now in heaven.❤
I watched an interview with her after his death. She recounted their first meeting, one in which they sang together all night long in a joyous jam session. You could hear a pure loving admiration in her account... when those two met, their love of music collided in a beautiful, unmatched way that made each of them feel how magnificent they were. Hard to put it in words, but incredibly touching. This performance warms my heart so!
@@aliceshutkina8201 Yes. They were true soul mates, I think. (It doesn’t have to be romantic.) It was so pure, the love and admiration they had for each other 🥺💛
You are right Kory....his voice is inimitable. He is also a wonderful human being. Spent some time in India....where I am from ....so people think he is Indian. I think he is of Iranian origin. He has very prominent cheek bones and a Middle Eastern look and complexion. But all this is academic....he was a great artist and I am thankful that God created him for us. RIP Freddy ...the man who cannot die....for he lives through his music...the undisputed King of Queen.
She was a world famous legendary operatic soprano, and he loved her voice and wanted to meet her. They met briefly in early 1987 and hit it off. She was from Barcelona, and she asked that he write and record a song with her that would be used as the theme for the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. This was the result. They ended up recording an entire album together, and his last live performance was with her. He was already ill, and apparently when she said she wanted him to sing this with her at the Olympics he told her he would be gone by then, and he was. Barcelona was replaced as the theme for the Games after Freddie died but was indeed used throughout the Olympic telecasts, including here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IzGCXdX6gig.html at the beginning of the International Broadcast of the Opening Ceremonies. Side note: In case you don't remember it or want to see it again, if you skip ahead to about 2:42:00 this Olympics had pretty much the coolest and most spectacular cauldron-lighting ceremony EVER.
Man, the 1992 Olympics had the best lighting bit, with the blind archer. I remember how dissapointed I was when in Atlanta they just lighted up a long stick and raised it
My mom was a HUGE opera aficionado. She was also a HUGE Freddie fan. When this came out she was in heaven. RIP mom...I am glad you got two of your favorites things before you left.
Imagine it`s Wembley, a live concert, Floor Jenson - Nightwish, you hear the beginning of ` Who Wants To Live Forever.....` The stage lights dim down and from backstage Freddy Mercury walks out as a hologram.... and he`s there again back home where he`s meant to be.... him and Floor do a duet of ` Who Wants To Live Forever ` then he interacts with the crowd and becomes truly Immortal Freddy Mercury...... imagine.....
Freddie is quoted as saying, when he first heard Montserrat Caballe sing, that he had heard the most beautiful voice in the world. It was the theme tune for the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona.
They came best friends after this, she apparently wanted him to sing with her at the Olympics but he told her he wouldn't be here to see it ☹ she was the only one outside of Queen he'd talk to about his Illness
How I hate that he is gone and her as well. What a loss, but what a gift to have had them in this world. Heavenly angelic choirs could not surpass this. I am crying!
The greatness wasn't in the desire, but in the achievement. Freddie didn't just have the desire but the ability to achieve what he desired and share the magic in the process.
EARGASM!! Freddie's style meshed well with Monstserrat's because he composed and arranged that very song himself in order that their voices would combine well.. that song was written FOR the both of them
When Freddie was told he was best singer in the world, he replied, "No, im not, MC is" She heard his comment and invited him to meet. He wrote this song bcz it was the city where they met. Gratifying to know this gave him so much joy bcz he knew he was dying.
If you are to appreciate Freddie you need to listen to Mother Love. It is heart breaking, and for very obvious reasons, but it can't be denied Freddie did not go quietly into the night. He went with the humility and grace we should all aspire to emulate.
Yes, Brian had to finish the last verse of Mother Love because Freddie was too ill to come back to the studio again. It gives me chills when I listen to the power in Freddie's voice in the first 2 verses. He was facing his imminent death and yet his voice was so strong and dynamic. Probably one of the strongest people to ever live, facing such a horrible disease and signing his heart out until the bitter end. He will always be my hero.
Seriously, this man could sing and do it all. He loved all types of music. His favorites were rock and most definitely opera, I mean look at that epic combination with Bohemian Rhapsody. Sadly she passed in October 2018
Oh my God you played it!! I am so glad since I recommended it so many times. Montserrat is one if my favorite opera stars. It's pronounced just like it's written.
Rock meets opera! Only our Freddie 💕 even while being extremely sick can create magic in your soul and she is an amazing opera singer. I can’t listen to this song enough. She passed away a couple of years ago.
Omg! One of my FAVORITE Freddie songs ! Like listening to the angels singing. Yes, it was recorded for the 1992 Olympics, which sadly Freddie didn't live to see.
Opera vibrates the soul. It sure does! Freddie was a huge fan of opera. We saw him once in the audience at the Royal Opera House in London, it was even more thrilling!
There was nothing Freddie could not do! Monserrat passed away in late 2018. In this song he says "God willing we will meet again, someday". I'm pretty sure they are chilling together with the big homie in the sky.
Barcelona, such a beautiful horizon. Barcelona, like a jewel in the sun. This song always puts a lump in my throat. It's just beautiful. Great Olympics as well.
It was through this song that I introduced my mum and dad - who were well into their 70's to Freddie. They simply adored him, and his and Queen's back catalogue thereafter, and became huge fans. Love you, Freddie x
I'm so glad you finally got around to this one. There was no limit to the talent Freddie had and Montserrat was a legend. It's so sad that we have lost both of them.
Every time I hear this I fill up with tears. Freddie has been gone 30 years next year, and I'm still grieving. Only one Freddie ps for the people who gave this a thumbs down. You have no souls
Finally! You’ve heard pure magic! No matter how many times I hear this song, it brings me to tears! Incredible! This has to be one of the best songs ever! Thank you for reacting to this song! ❤️☮️
*Serious chills* An amazing, stupendous piece of work. His range, his artistry, his passion...his potential was so massive. Oh...what else he would have created...I always wonder that... Rest in peace Freddie and Montserrat. Sing beautifully together forever.
I've heard this hundreds of times throughout my life and it always chills me up. Freddie is one of the best male voices ever!!!!!!!! They loved and respected each other!
Man... this is one of the greatestes song EVER!!!... I always have a goosebumps hearing this... also 28 year after this great Olypics Games in Barcelona, which Freddie unfortunately did not live to see. but he was thare too... even though he was no longer alive. All my respects to Freddie Mercury.
Thanks for more Freddie. This is beautiful. Would love to see you react to "You Take My Breath Away". Live and studio versions both incredible and different. Difficult to land on which one to suggest. Both are gorgeous vocals by Freddie, the live version perhaps best ever.
Freddie loved Montserrat. It was always a dream of his to work with her. They recorded an entire album together. Unfortunately, Montserrat Caballe passed away in 2018.
Very true. And for Jamal I recommend you check this out - Freddie Mercury The Untold Story part 8-9-10: story of how Freddie & Montserrat Caballe became friends and sang together. He was a very versatile person in the best sense ... And she was the best soprano opened for new experiences... This is the embodiment of going outside of the comfort zone which ends up in such a memorable song and performance...Unforgettable!
Absolutely love this. You can see how happy they are to sing with each other. I get chills when I hear this one. Showmanship, skill and love of music. 💖
Think about this a moment ......Listen to the crowd... they are on their feet giving a standing Ovation to one of the worlds leading Opera singers Monserrat ...and a legendary rock/ pop singer Freddie.... Never before in history has their been anyone like him...A man who is as comfortable, charismatic, and impeccable a performer as the front man for the greatest Rock band in the world...who wrote the greatest rock anthems of all time ....and then holds his own ,effortlessly, with a world class opera Diva . Not to mention he wrote the song Barcelona ! My god this guy was just beyond freaking talented..I cannot name ONE artist alive today who can hold a candle flame to Freddie.
The one's that pressed "thumbs down" are just Jealous! Jealous because some of us grew up watching & listening to these amazing Artists & 'they' missed out on them!
