Great interview Kristian. Would be an idea to go to Freddie's house and do a special pre record show there with Freddie and Brett and actually go through Freddie's LP collection of comic albums and maybe play some jokes from the lp's themselves , (if there's no copyright strike on them). Would be a cool episode.
I'm a 30 year old man and Kanan is easily my favorite star wars character. His story really means a lot to me. That being said, it's been awesome to hear Freddie talk over the years with you. He's always so real and interesting and he's got some insane stories. I really appreciate how genuine he is when he talks with people. Wish you guys the best.
Always enjoy when Freddie comes on. Consistently one of the most compelling and engaging guests to listen to. Already looking forward to the next time he comes on.
My older brother Aaron and I love talking about Freddie and what a fantastically insightful, real life Jedi he is. Aaron urged me to watch Rebels a while back and told me "this is the greatest Star Wars story ever told." I didn't believe him but I was blissfully proven wrong. Kanan is his absolute favorite Jedi and we always talk about what Freddie brought to that awesome teacher-student dynamic between Kanan and Ezra. His face would seriously melt off, like General Toht / Raiders of the Lost Ark status, if I won for him a signed Kanan figure from the legend himself. (Also: Freddie, you will always be the quintessential Fred from Scooby-Doo in my mind and my heart)
It’s a crying shame that this video isn’t at 2000 comments already! You are such a great interviewer, all of your conversations feel very genuine. And of course Freddie is absolutely amazing. I am not a wrestling fan but I started listening to his podcast after your previous interview with him just because of his story telling and down to earth personality. Thank you providing such great content.
Love whenever Freddie is on the show! He has such a comforting and familiar presence. I don't know if it's because I've been watching him for most of my life, from Scooby Doo to Rebels, but he feels like my cool older cousin or uncle that I love seeing at family events. Thanks for having him on! Glad to hear we're gonna see him back acting on screen too!
Freddie is such a chill & real dude. Met him at SW Celebration in 2017 & dude is such a real one. Love him as Kanan but glad he does what makes him happy & respects the arc of the character.
I have been a huge fan of Freddy since Star Wars Rebels. His voice work and his approach to the character and story is remarkable. I remember watching him talk on collider about how a relative or friend of his served in the army and when Freddy played the scene where he’s remembering order 66 and the war his approach to finding that perfect voice performance was remarkable remembering hearing those real stories it was amazing.
Hell yes! Love Freddie Prinze Jr. Love listening to his stories from growing up, hanging out with the Dodgers minor league team, the Albuquerque Isotopes when he was younger, talking about his father, and all the variety of work he's done in the entertainment industry.
What a great episode!!! I had no idea Freddie was involved in sooooo much!!! Still my all time favorite as Kanan Jarrus!!! I need that FIG to add to my COLLECTION!!! 🤓🤓🤓
As someone who was late watching the Star Wars animated shows I became obsessed with Kanan Jarrus. He is one of my favourite characters. Massive respect to Freddie and the work that he does
I was barely a casual fan of wrestling when I was younger but i love listening to Freddie's podcast for the insights and just the passion that he has for it.
As always a phenomenal interview. Loved the conversation with Freddie. You always make these feel organic and original. Never repeating yourself with guests and go with the flow and energy of the person you have on. Wishing for your continued success and happiness.
Freddie was great as Kanan; his characters arc was complete and full, and I agree that what he's saying about doing anymore with the character would dilute it.
Please have Freddie on more! Always a great discussion with him! Love how he doesn’t want to make Kanan’s arc feel less meaningful. Excited for his return to horror as well! For sure will check out his podcast.
I love Freddie saying that he doesn't want see Kanans character Diluted by being voiced too much. He had such a beautiful character arc and message that I agree the more they shoehorn him in, the more it takes away from the impact of his fate. Awesome interview, keep the great guests coming, Kristian!!
What an entertaining conversation. Always fun hearing you guys interact. I will never forget the Schmoedown with Freddie and Sam Witwer. It was my favorite episode ever!
I could do with more "smooching" in Star Wars. Freddie is a great guest and I hope he comes back soon. I'm not a wrestling fan but am always engaged when you talk about it.
Love seeing Freddie on the podcast, such a humble guy! Freddie's mind for wrestling is nuts, can't wait to see his wrestling project drop on the stream platforms!!
Love when Freddie comes on. Love his mentality of being straight up with everyone. He how a lot going which is great and I hope works out well for him.
Always enjoy eps with Freddie. Forget his acting and everything else which is good, he just seems like a pretty down to earth straight forward guy. He is always talking about family first which is probably why he has had a rare successful Hollywood marriage. He seems very grounded and honest. I like that he doesn’t want to over use Kanaan and feels if the character keeps getting used it will diminish what’s been done already. Sounds like Lucas Film should take note of that premise
Man Freddie Prinze Jr. Is the best. His commentary on He’s All That was fantastic! I’ve always rooted for him because he is solid dude. I would love to have him as permanent host on the Big Thing with Kristian. His story telling is phenomenal. Today’s episode made my day. Great work Kristian and Brett.
Damn... Freddie cut me deep with his line in this interview, "life is a river, not a lake." I think for too long, I have treated life like a lake, sitting still, casting my line and seeing what will bite... instead of going with the flow... That one line was very profound for me. I think that'll fuel me for a while... Additionally, I'm a lifelong Star Wars fan, but Rebels came out when I was in college, so I never really gave animated Star Wars a chance until about 3-4 years ago... and DAMNED if it hasnt changed my life. I finished Clone Wars and I'm only 1 Season into Rebels so far, but I am already in love with it. I know what happens to Kanan, but I can't wait to see how it all goes down.
I've liked Freddie Prinze, Jr. since I was a kid watching "She's All That" and "Scooby-Doo". I'm currently about to finish watching "Star Wars: Rebels" Season 2 for the first time.
First movie I ever saw Freddie in was Scooby Doo when I was a little kid. I loved him and the whole cast in that, and I've enjoyed everything I've seen him in since. He was amazing as Kanan in Rebels, but one of my favorite underrated roles of his was his guest spot in an episode of Psych. He was great and I always wanted to see him come back. 🙂
Kanan has become my favourite character in Star Wars, the way Freddie connects the character through voicing the character is amazing, his character had a deep impact on me, I love rebels!
Been looking forward to hearing from Freddie again, big fan of his work on Star Wars: Rebels! I felt like he brought something really cool to this quite unique jedi archetype who had demons of his own that had to be resolved. And such a satisfying yet soul crashing conclusion to the character's story arc!
This is weirdly awesome, I grew up watching his Scooby doo movies when I was a little kid they were probably my favorite for a long time. Recently I found out that he wrote for WWE during the time I was into it as well and he even wrote and pitched Jeff Hardy’s peak stories, who was my favorite wrestler as a kid too and inspired me so much. Just in the last couple years I been coming across a lot of his other films, particularly in the Horror genre and I’ve also fallen in love with those. It’s incredible how much this dude has been a part of my life, whether random or not, it means a lot to me to have voices like his out there. Freddie always seemed to me to be much more interested in making art and putting out creative energy as opposed to “becoming famous” and even after doing so, he didn’t get lost chasing that and instead just refocused his career. My best wishes go out to him 👏🏽
Tremendous interview, Kristian! Back in the ‘90s, I always thought Freddie was a bit of a knob. But over the last 15 years, he’s really changed my opinion of him doing these interviews and showing his true self. He’s always been great anytime you’ve had him on and I’m especially glad that you include Brett in these conversations as he really does add something. I know Brett’s off to the side shaking his head but it’s true. Anyway, great interview and keep them coming!
Always love listening in to Freddie, always comes across like a real dude. Been a fan of his for some time now, from his voice over work from Starwars, Mass Effect and Dragon Age, his career in Wrestling and of course Scooby Doo!
This episode of Star Wars: Rebels had more swearing than normal, but I think it worked. In all seriousness, fantastic show. Love listening to Freddie. His work on Rebels brought Kanan to life and he is one of if not my favorite Star Wars characters. I even named my dog after him lol.
Hey crew! Great show/ interview all around! I first fell in love with Freddie as a teen when I saw She's All That and Scooby Doo and that love only grew and solidified deeper with his work on Rebels! Kanan is such an important character to me and so many others and while we all love Filoni, Kanan just wouldn't be the same without Freddie Prinze Jr! So grateful for Freddie, Kanan, and this interview! Thanks guys! P.S. honestly! What is with the no kissing in star wars! Kanan and hera have a child but they only kiss like what.. once??!? 😂
Great chat Kristian! Loved listening to Freddie when he was on your 1 on 1 show back in the day. This didn't disappoint. I liked his take on Hollywood and how doing more Kanan diminishes his impact. Keep doing these interviews, a great way to have in the background while making dinner!😊
I grew up watching Chico and the Man. I was probably too young to know or appreciate his talent. I enjoyed the whole interview, but Freddie talking about his dad was very moving.
Always been a massive fan of Freddie and an even bigger fan of Star Wars! Would love to see him take up the Kanan role again in the future! (If he ever wants to of course) In the time we’ve spent with that character you can see how Freddie’s philosophies have woven into Kanan. Easily one of the best Jedis 🤘🏼
Always love to get Freddie on here, hope his show comes to fruition! As a less than casual wrestling fan it sounded like something id definitely try out
This interview was dope. But hera and kanan do kiss! And she calls him “love” like alot lol! He needs to watch Star Wars more cuz Star Trek ain’t that good lol jk! Great interview Kristian!
This was awesome that you had Freddie Prinze Jr. on the show. I always liked him. I grew up with his movies and his wife's show. Also, I'm glad he talked about I Know What You Did Last Summer 3 for a bit. I've been curious what his involvement is with it and what the status of it is. I hope he decides to do it if the script is good. The conversation about wrestling was fascinating too.
Man I was just like Kristian when Robin died. It hit me harder/made me tear up more than when some people that I've actually know went. Didn't expect for a part of this interview to hit me like that but I'm so glad he got to meet him and Sarah got to work with him on that show. Robin's comedy got me through so much when I was younger
Love this Interview. Freddie is great. Love his honesty. Kanan is one of my favorite characters in Rebels. Would love to win autographed Gentle Giant Mold. Keep up great work!
I had to come back to this interview because I always knew I loved hearing his opinions on the WWE but I just learned that Freddie was actually one of the writers that pushed to give Jeff Hardy his first world title in 2008 despite pushback from Triple H and others. He’s responsible for giving me one of the most exciting moments of my childhood. If he comes back on soon it would mean so much to me if you could ask him about that match and if he had a hand in any of the other Jeff Hardy stuff around that time. 2006-2009 Jeff Hardy was one of the most over with the fans and exciting to watch wrestlers ever.
