My Dad was a trainer for Freedie Steele back starting before he win the Middle weight championship. When we would go on vacation to Westport Wa. On the West coast my Dad would always stop at Freedies lounge and have a drink with him. I wish I had been old enough to go inside to meet Freedie

I like Freddie Steele's movement, very modern in style, up on the toes, quite different from many fighters of that time. I guess the War took a few of his best years - but am I right in saying he did some war movies after 1945??

I've heard of both these boxers. Seems rather odd they'd throw in the towel so soon like that. Was this fixed/rigged..? Steele is regarded rather highly, but Lesnevich was no Slouch. He was usually a LHW(175). He weighed in at a surprisingly low 163 for this bout. There must've been some sort of catchweight agreement.
