Power, Poetry, Majesty: TheBeauty of Liszt. Not the usual horse race performance!

I would certainly trust this interpretation from one of Liszt's pupils far more than anyone else's. Mr Lamond brings out far more colour without unnecessary pyrotechnics.

I really like this very different style of approach. The Liszt 2 has always been a favorite of mine and I think unjustly underrated and underplayed.

It can prove that Frederic Lamond was the extremely excellent pianist from this recording. It is also proved that it and he were the pianists for not for records but live performances. It will be proved by carrying out that he was a high disciples of Liszt with this recording.

I really have stopped listening to pianist born before the 1930's but van Beinum thought enough of him to record and play in public with this guy . His name appears often in chronologies of Liszt 's pupils and there were so many who flocked to Weimar one wonders who he ever even spoke (like most famous personalties its about the force of the personality take away Horowit's macabre personality and you have Jorge bolet but still without the gorgeous tonal palette ) to andlike Rosenthal ,Sauer said a pretty face could sit next to him and there were some fire breathing woman . adele aus der Ohe could play 3 men's concerti in a single night's program's . SoLamond was there at the end .So what ? There are 10,ooo living pianists who play this music better and certainly more thoughtfully but and its a very big butt none plays with this kind of aura and strangeness .I won't soon forget this recording : the experience this is really very exciting somehow . reminds me of schnabel's messy concerto performances but the excitement there is very diffeen must be placement of the mikes. . Listen to t hat slow scale in 3rds . th whole concerto sounds mow like DevilTanze at this tempo . It's moving . I love Beinum' s Concertgebouw here ! Well add this with Sauer's & weingartner in these same 2 concerti .

You might want to try Arthur de Greef's renderings of the Liszt concerti, also the Hungarian Fantasy. I've stopped listening to pianists born AFTER 1930.
