Frederic Malle NOIR EPICES - Reflection and Review 

Yes, Noir Epices needs more love! It is my current favorite fragrance. I really like your review! It is funny that Michel Roudnitska was surprised that Catherine Deneuve wears the fragrance even though the fragrance was designed for brunettes (if I remember the Malle video correctly)

Thanks for this video. Been interested in Frederic Malle for awhile but have had many reservations upon smelling. I’ll have to try this one out. In my opinion you are the best channel out there for fragrance reviews. I really appreciate your honesty

Great vid! I was thinking how Malle doesn't have much in the way of spicy/leathery/animalic perfumes (unless you venture into the oud range) so I can see how if that's your wheelhouse you won't find a lot to get excited about with Malle. I'm very much a "cool tones" person and Malle excels at that, there's always clarity, brightness and lift to the fragrances which I love. But if you're more of a "warm tones" person I can see how a brand like Lutens would speak to you a lot more. Anywho, shows the consistency in our taste that Noir Epice is among my least favorite from Malle and one of the few bottles I don't own. 😂 I love the opening but something about the soapy geranium base is a bit old fashioned for me and I get weary of the smell after a couple hours.

Great Review Pep. I have had this in my collection for a few years now and still absolutely love it. I tend to wear it as a ‘special occasion’ fragrance and so definitely need to wear it more often. Pure class!

One of my favorite fragrances. I got one of the original bottles. Beautiful stuff. The newer stuff is somewhat muted, but still Beautiful. Excellent Topic! Cheers! 🎉🎉🎉😊

I have a 10 ml decant of vintage Noir Epices and it's pretty strong. What a great spice scent !

Nice review! I tried it a couple years ago and it smelt like a shower gel to me. I got a decant recently and have really enjoyed it. 'Balanced' is my word for it. It smells familiar, but I cannot put my finger on what it reminds me of. Maybe a fragrance from the 90s. As a house, I get along with a few FM's. Musc Ravageur didnt do it for me at first, but now I love it. Very cosy scent. I really enjoy Acne Studios, Leau D'Hiver, Geranium PM, Eau de Magnolia and the Moon. Special shout out to how interesting Music for a While is. Patchouli, pineapple and lavender = different.

To me it has a metalic sense about it. Reminds me of that sensation I got as a kid when I licked a battery.. i know that is a weird association.. i love it; i bought my bottle maybe 6-7 years ago.. i wear it sparingly.. it however smells old and dated.. but I love it.

I picked up Noir Epices a short while back from a discounter when the price was good enough. I've always loved it for years but had a mental blocker in my head that it was a better quality inspired version of Paloma Picasso (one of my favourite all time scents). I've since gotten over those type of mental blockers and now buy what I like lol

I love it as well. And you are right that it can seem deceptively “easy” upon first smell, but there’s a lot going on. That said, the first thing I always think when I smell it is Egoiste. They’re obviously not the same, but I know you love Egoiste, so wondering if you see any similarities. I guess it’s the orange - rose - cinnamon- sandalwood notes that cause me to think it, but I’ve never heard anyone else say so.

Hi Pep, My question is along the lines of @DavidNYC. Do you think this profile fits into others from your collection- the feeling, the style, the complexity, etc., or do you think that it’s independent from anything else in your collection that draws parallels.
