You left me, you walked away.
I think realising someone you love does not love you back is one of the most complex things the mind can go through. Being in a toxic relationship where you constantly find yourself second guessing their intentions and motives, you are constantly left with the feeling that you have done something wrong, that you are not good enough. You watch while it falls apart in front of you desperately trying to hold on.. it breaks you cause they ran, without looking back.
It takes a long time to heal, a long time until you can look at them and feel nothing. A long time for you to make sense of it, of why they decided to walk away and leave you standing there after you called them your home.
But eventually you realise, through the memories, that deep down they never loved you, what you thought was not a reality. That at some point you will be better of without them. You will no longer feel you need to see the way their smile forms in order to be happy, or the way they would grab hold of you as you were trying to leave in order to feel secure.
Eventually you will be able to stand on your own, without them.
"You didn't love her! You just didn't want to be alone. Or maybe, maybe she was good for your ego. Or, or maybe she made you feel better about your miserable life, but you didn't love her, because you don't destroy the person that you love!"
- Callie Torres
This song means so much to me personally, and is one of the songs I attach the most emotion to.
