My friends know me so well, they know I love old tech and anytime they have old stuff they give it to me. This Inspiron 530S is one of 3 computers recently given to me and this one needed some love.
It appeared my friend used this up until 2015 with its original Vista Basic install and luckily the recovery partition was still on it. In this video I restore it back to factory and clean it up a bit.

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 that I use on the regular. After a BIOS update I was able to max out the RAM to a total of 8GB of DDR2 thats 2GB per slot. I currently have 64bit Windows 10 home running on it. The desktop also came with an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 CPU when I got it. And I put a mid-range 2015 AMD GPU in it as well as a brand new 500W power supply. It struggles with skyrim but it's playable. Nice video!

Did you have any issues with the ram? Did you use regular DDR2, or did you use the Atech kit? I pulled out my old Inspiration 530s. I was looking for some old documents I thought I had on that hard drive. To my surprise, it booted and worked perfectly. It's been in storage since 2010. So, I thought it deserved a second chance at life. After some arguments, it finally agreed to run Windows 10. All the info I could find is that the last bios update in 2012 would allow 8 gigs of ram. 4 just isn't enough for Windows 10. Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
