One of the synths used on a prince album was $10,000 ($40,000 now) in the 80s when it came out. Having nearly endless musical possibilities at your fingertips and you can upgrade for $250 every 2 years is an absolute joke

I think the music production landscape has never been more diverse, more democratic and more accessible than it is now, but sadly you need to have so many hats on; as an artist, to make it work, the real question, is if all this opportunity leads to better quality music? Which I’m not sure it does. Be inspired, just bring something to the table as best you can, work with mediums and on projects that really inspire you, and that will be enough ‘Build it and they will come’ 💫

I found Melda's free piano plugin leagues ahead than even few paid piano plugins... Incredible...though Melda plugins are largely memory intensive...still worth going for it for the sound it offers for Free...😍

Kontakt 8 - Does it really get a new UI and finally a better font rendering? No more pixel fonts or blurry stuff? IMHO, NI has a really bad and outdated UI technique. I am on a MAC and it hurts my eyes. Anyone with background infos and some more facts? 🤔🙏

Sorry, never really been a fan of NI's instruments. I will say that Komplete Start was great when I was just starting out, though, and for that I'm grateful. And buying some NI hardware got me a few things like some of their effects (I love Raum and Phasis) and an upgrade price to an older version of Komplete but it's just more work to use any NI instrument on Kontakt or KK than someone else's VST. Truth be told I usually reach for something from Arturia or something stock in Ableton. Not going to buy Komplete 15.

I like Arturia stuff. It’s not always the most accurate representation of the original gear but generally they sound good. They also have a nice fx bundle that is discounted if you have other Arturia plugins.

I really don't think anything competes head-to-head with Native Instruments... not at this time, not for me. Because of Kontakt(!), because of Komplete Kontrol and my NI S keyboards. However... I love what Arturia is doing, and I have two of their flagship products (V Collection, and FX Collection). I also like UVI's ecosystem, and have a few of their products so far (Falcon, Quadra, Percussion Factory), and I would consider grabbing their whole ecosystem via subscription IF I was into a project that really called for it. I agree, I think Kontakt 8 is a pretty big update. I might even use some of the chords/phrases/looping in live playing, just to give me 'more fingers'. 🙂 I am hoping that KK sticks around -- Kontakt can do more and more with Kontakt libraries, but I still need KK for browsing/controlling the non-Kontakt NKS sounds(e.g., Massive X, Arturia's V Collection, Diva).

I sincerely dislike NI. I run into nothing but issues with their software. older software of theirs doesnt cross over into newer systems well at all. Theyve completely killed Battery 3 making any session that had an instance of it basically rubbish.. Maschine is hot garbage as well.. I cant even turn the virtual "knobs" in the software.. buggy and unusable and the hardware feels plastic and crappy.. My mpc2500 runs circles around maschine and its well over 20 years old... I will never buy another NI product and I will not be updating anything from them. In fact I am tempted to sell off all my products from them. They are a bad company. Go buy a roland or korg workstation instead of investing in any NI garbage software.

I wrote my comments on NI video but I don't see them. Banned? My opinion is: we are seeing Arturia controllers and NI sampler adding automatic way of playing chords and scales. Well, it may be helpful for kids and DJs but it is useless for musicians. It is not AI, it is very basic digital programming with a simple math base. Musicians like innovative ways to produce and manipulate sounds, I don't see anything like that in Arturia controllers or NI Komplete 15. Kontakt sound engine is the same since 10 years. Is anyone able to make me see new technology to manage samples there?

I really, REALLY hope Kontakt 8 is more functional and less janky than previous versions. Don't just add functionality (more things to break) and reskin the UI, make the whole package work better. Somehow I feel like I shouldn't hold my breath.

Everyone just speculating… Komplete 15… Preorder? No real demo, no specs, no nothing?? Is Kontakt 8 going to be backwards compatible so we finally can get tid of old versions from our system? Is it going to require library updates that will make them not working in old versions etc.., Too much hype while ignoring all the negatives. NI is inconvenient

Native Instruments is just disappointing. Im waiting for a Maschine and Battery Update to use all my expansion packs more intuitively. But they keep releasing new Kontakt versions, so I may not be able to update my Kontakt Libraries anymore because of incompatibility.

Overall, I don’t think anybody can compete with the breadth of instruments, FX, and tools in Komplete. Others have a niche, like cinematic, or EDM and hip hop or tv and film - but covering all genres is tough. Seems only NI has the development team size and acquisition cash to bring it all together.

Hey Sanjay! A couple of thoughts on the NI Komplete 15 update ... While I'm really happy to see the updates to Kontakt, I can't see them removing Komplete Kontrol -- it's the go-between that allows VSTs from other companies work with their Kontrol S MIDI controllers. And, unless they're going to /completely/ integrate Komplete Kontrol functionality into Kontakt, there'd be no real reason to continue to develop NKS, either internally or with companies like u-he and Arturia. I would also liked to have seen at least a couple more of the cinematic instruments that are now several years old become available in Standard. At least they did include a couple of newer instruments like Session Percussionist. While I'd hoped for more, I do still feel like it's a worthwhile update. My opinion on the Arturia is that they missed the mark. The new version really needed to include polyphonic aftertouch. The rest of the changes are pretty strictly cosmetic. Honestly, a couple months back, I decided to not wait for the Keylab MkIII, and ordered a MkII. After a couple of initial hiccups, I'm glad I decided to buy when I did -- I'd probably be disappointed in the workflow of the MkIII. I think Novation did fine with theirs. This is not their top-of-the-line controller, and at the price point, it's still probably the class leader. Cheers!

Thanks for the video. I still have my komplete back from 2016. With Kontakt 4 or 5. The reality is, I don't use it that much. I préféré arturia and UVI for synth, IK multimedia for bass a drums. I keep it for orchestral and some piano for now, but eventually I will get another piano and another orchestral bundle. Komplete just seems too pricey for what I can have with other companies or even free on decent sampler. Concerning IK, TRacks 6 is a amazing update really those new modules are quite fun. Whole UI is just bad. Hard to find sounds, tools and mark, organize my own tool set. Most of tools, text etc is also too small in high res monitor. Better UI what would be nice.

I didn’t like Neuton 4 when I demo’d it. I’ve moved away from Izotopes EQ plugins and I usually just use UADs pultec collection. It came with my interface and I was blown away by how good they are

The ability to choose from three different versions of select sounds great! I think it would be even better if you could pick and mix what products you want within each of the other Komplete tiers as I dont utilise a huge amount of whats included in my tier and feel like I never will, which seems wasteful! In the ideal world, I'd trade the ones I don't use for products that I would use. I find myself using Arturia Analog Lab Pro the most, and occasionally NI's Maschine expansions and Kontakt libraries. Session percussionist is on my hit list for something I can see myself using and Playbox (which I have) stands out to me as exceptionally innovative too. Love Playbox! Not sure if I'd gain much from an upgrade to 15 just yet personally, as my hobbyist needs are well taken care of already. Maschine 2.0 is was I'm hotly anticipating from NI. Ty for your great content! 😊
