This is a pretty good tutorial. It’s amazing that you got Hogwarts legacy to run near 60 fps at ultra quality. I’m hoping to do this once I reinstall the game. Hopefully it will work if I add -dx12 -high after the launch options you provided.

It might show that it has 60 fps, but will feel a lot worse. When you already have below 60fps, frame gen is only good at lying on the frame rate you get

followed the instructions and it seems to be working great. medium settings 60fps easily (first 2 hours of the game)

Hey, is the process the same for a game like the witcher 3? I cant seem to find the file you used for Hogwarts legacy. Probobly has a different file path so could you help me? I have the steam version just so you know.

witcher 3 doesn't need to overwrite the dlss dll file. just skip that step and you should be fine.

Maybe try the steps again. Or delete the game and start with a clean game install.

Gave this a try and it didn't work for me. I wasn't getting any dlss option or able to load in handheld mode after changing the launch option. I am using lutris to run the game

Ok, sorry but I'm stuck. I'm doing the same for quacked Returnal. You know where you had to copy and paste the folder directory, and then add the "z:"? I've done the exact same because I couldn't find the game folder, but after I click next the installer opens a small window saying "The folder z:\home\deck\GAMES\Returnal\Returnal\Binaries\Win64 does not exist. Would you like the folder to be created?" How is that even possible, I literally copied and pasted the folder address....

the first step is literally locate your game folder so you have to know where it is.

@@GrownUpGamingGUG but I do. I've done exactly what you have done. Opened Dolphin first, looked for my game folder, found the relevant subfolder, copied the address. The folder exists in my deck. But the mod installer thinks it doesn't.

Why do you use port proton? It's not necessary and I think that thing is shady.

It's a pretty Powerful tool. I can even toggle DLSS, ray tracing and many more things with it, no extra tools. But no frame generation at the time being. This is the reason I'm following your tutorial.

Firstly, thanks for the tutorial! it' really helps. However, my game crashes after every 40 mins (Approximately). I tried to cap to 60 fps in game and all but it still crashes. Do you have any ideas?

@@GrownUpGamingGUG it seems to be better after restarting the game. I've been playing around with graphic settings to see how it responds…. Seems to do well on high settings now at around 35-40fps.

Remove the fps caps on game and on steam deck. Try different combinations with 90 and uncapped fps

The prerequisite for this mod to work is the game needs to support dx12 and dlss2/dlss3 natively. Whether it works or not might need further tweaking for help from the developers. Games are being tested now as this is pretty new. Stay tuned.

try adding -ForceReflexMarkers at the end of the launch options for spider-man remastered. i haven't tried this game but this worked with the paid mods.

Isn't there any input settings? It should automatically recognise your controller in gaming mode though. I haven't tried that game on steam deck.

@@MOLHAMSTAR I'm not sure what your issue is honestly. Unless the game doesn't support controller, I've never had issues with controller input controls and I didn't really need to do anything to get it to recognise. It just recognises.

Every game might be different. This one is an unreal engine game so it will be different for non unreal engine games. Also remember the prerequisite is the game needs to support dx12 and dlss2/dlss3 natively.

In steam, select your non-steam game and right click, select properties, then you should see launch options, put the command in there. I actually did it in the video, you can follow along.

Since it's running at 30fps :-) it's a fake 60fps so will look smoother, but play the same as 30fps latency and maybe even worse, funnily enough. Edit - That's a simplified version to make it easier to understand.

@@5izzy557 i understand the logic but honestly I can't feel the difference while playing this game. When I press the jump button, the player on screen jumps without any delay as far as I can tell but I don't have the equipment to test the response time.

@@GrownUpGamingGUG Exactly, there is no difference between 30fps and 60fps and there should be a big difference xD It can add some latency at these lower frame rates, but imagine what's going on is that the smoothness of the visuals doesn't match up with how sluggish it feels, so it's perceived as additional latency. i can't play at 30fps latency anymore, some people are just more sensitive than others, and there's other things like whether v-sync is active that will affect latency ect.

@@GrownUpGamingGUG so just install it with protontrick ?. I just did it with Kena actually.I followed Your tutorial. And ended up with copying Nvd.dll because there was no such a file to overwrite. But I did found the DLSS folder and the file in my Kena folder. Because I noticed when installing it the notification page said about KENA. And yes it help my Kena a little bit better. I will try it with my Starfield later. Thanks! Much obliges!

I don't really notice it. I mean hogwarts legacy isn't a frame perfect game that you need to parry or block. I didn't feel any impact on gameplay.

Worst case just delete all the mod files from the game folder. None of the original files were replaced.

I haven't tried but as it only works with dx12, the steam version will crash when switch API from vulkan to dx12 on steamOS so I think only the non-steam version will work.
