Putting chocolate in is a great idea! Some of the foodbanks round here put in wee luxeries as well as the essentials and, idk, it just lifts you a bit when you open a food parcel and there's chocolate or even just a packet of biscuits in it. You need that wee moral boost. I've both relied on foodbanks and community cafes to eat, and I've worked in jobs where I've picked up food parcels for folk. My suggestion is to have a list of local and national organisations who can provide help you can't to signpost or refer people to. Loads of times I've not only had to get someone a food parcel, but also a cooker/fridge/bed/all the things so having a plan A, B & C to source these things is a lifesaver. Solidarity from Scotland!
I noticed that on the list of churches in your area, two of them were Methodist. There are some Methodist churches out there that are supportive of the LGBTQ+ community. So hopefully this gives you peace of mind that at least a couple of the church-based food banks you donated portion of the food to are likely inclusive. What you're doing is awesome!! :)
Normally, I'd think that just walking around and handing the stuff out is the most ethical way to go. But it's definitely not sustainable, takes more time, more physical effort with no receipts. It's been my experience that ppl roughen it usually aren't to keen or equipped to go through all the tape and bureaucracy that organized non profits demand. On the other hand, any sort of long term effort requires organization and a bit of schmoozing the system :/ What you're doing is definitely better than nothing tho, and whoever gets a can of beans doesn't have to worry about a meal for that day. If I could suggest, maybe making a list resources to hand out, like walk in food banks/meals, free clothes, libraries where ppl can loiter, mental health phone numbers. Also, gift cards, bus tickets, maybe public gym limited memberships to get access to the showers. Also, if you can help it, get the cans that don't require a can opener. If you end up making a handout list, I'd prioritize resources that don't require the individual sign contracts and places where they can get out easily. Shelters can be worth looking into, but I would just be careful of where you're sending ppl.

Everything you're doing is amazing work, I can tell you really have been thinking about this for a long time and mapping out every variable. Most people would just think about how to change the world but you went out and started doing it. Mad respect
Hah, I feel you in the difficulties of setting things up. I wish somebody could just tell me a foolproof action plan, but that just isn't happening. And there's all this anxiety about getting it right. But doing something is better than nothing. Idk exactly what I could do to help you besides donate (tell me if you need anything), but I can share from my experiences running donation drives. Which are informed by me as a person (I'm a fairly wealthy white highschooler) and the location where I live (classified). Idk exactly what you’ve already done or thought of or if this is even relevant. But it might be able to help. Volunteering at a local food pantry/bank/kitchen/church is really helpful if you're able to. Seeing how others run it and just copying it. Also, the people there can provide more resources and introduce to other people who can help out. Go to a church-run pantry, scope it out, and repeat but secular. Or just talk to someone who works there. Steal ideas, improve on them, grow your cause. The food pantry I work at will often leave boxes of food outside of low-income housing. There’s an apartment building and we come by every week to leave food in the lobby. Idk what location would work for you (a school or workplace might also work), but this is a way of getting food right to people independently without a church or big organization. My current projects are mostly expanding the food pantries I’m already involved in to be further reaching and more socialist less charity. Making it mutual aid and educating my peers further. So much of this is education. I also want to start more community gardens, I just have no idea how to garden. Also transportation services - public transit is just not cutting it and I want to provide my community with better rides. I also need to binge all your videos. I honestly think if everyone did what they could to make the world a better place, whether that's signing an online petition or setting up a foodbanc or using their ridiculous riches to give to people who need it instead of going to fucken space, then the world would be a utiopia. Fair play sir.

Super cool you went for it, fam. It sucks that trying to do a good thing for the world without exerting influences (religion and politics and shit) has to be this difficult. We unfortunately live in a society that trusts donations done with specific agendas than for the common good itself.

I don't get your argument on accountability, unless you're speaking on the topic of trust--or lack thereof--that most people have towards those that claim to have a desire to help. If that's where you're coming from, I can say for myself that posting and showing footage about their efforts would only be seen as boasting in my eyes, you're the exception because I know why you're doing such a thing. With that said, I personally see no need to prove anything to anyone that may not have bore witness, you do it because you want to help, those that you help will know, and you know, that's all that would--and should--matter to me. The evil in this world is very potent and clouds the good that a large number actually have, I get it; in the end, keep doing what you feel is best, I have some trust in you, for what that may be worth.
