I have only done a couple small free motion sewing. And that person suggested to unplug the foot feed and use the stop and go button because the speed is much more even.....and it works good. Thank you so much......for helping me to set my machine up for free motion. Did not know about going to settings to do this. Have saved your site, and will come back and see what you have to teach us.

Try to work on a coaster/mug rug. The reason I say this is it's only small and easy to manoeuvre about, while you get the hang of it. Its all about practice, that's all. I have every confidence in you, let me know when you give it a shot I think you'll be surprised. Making a coaster is also quick and easy so you're going to get the instant gratification from finishing a project.

Brilliant! I have tried to do this meander pattern but always make such a mess of it. Love your tips on relaxing too - I always get quite stiff when I'm doing FMQ. I can do straight patterns with no problem, just can't seem to make the leap. Will have a go now though. (Any chance of you doing a paper piecing tutorial?) Thank you so much Cassie.

Love your videos! I've been practicing my free motion quilting. What causes my thread to break?
@FaodailCreation
@FaodailCreation Год назад
Could be a few things, going to quickly, wrong needle, cheap thread, sometimes it just happens.
@rebeccamulkern1051
@rebeccamulkern1051 Год назад
Why do you need to change or select the needle position to free motion? Isn't lowering the feed dogs enough? I'm very new to free motion, still in the practice stage 😊
@FaodailCreation
@FaodailCreation Год назад
no you don't need to change or select the needle position. You are correct. Basically you become the feed dogs and move the fabric about
@sharonkemp3353

Would like to see how you use the 'ecco foot. Is it for special free motion? Or what is the best way for this foot. And, do you set up the machine for in the 'free motion' setting for this foot too? Thank you
@FaodailCreation
@FaodailCreation Год назад
yes it is kind of a free motion, I use it for motifs or if i've done some fabric painting and want the motif to stand out. It helps with distance between each of the lines as you go out.

Hi. Your meander is very nice & you explain things very clearly. Thanks! I have the same machine & it came with 3 free motion feet. A clear round one, an enclosed metal one with a very small hole for needle & one like you are using. I’m new at FMQ & so I don’t k which one to use. Do you have a recommendation?
@FaodailCreation
@FaodailCreation 3 года назад
He clear round one is your echo foot. I use the o foot. I have never used the one with the small hole. I would recommend the o foot.

Thank you so much. I was able to free motion my table runner with this tutorial. Why do you use the stand?
@FaodailCreation
@FaodailCreation 5 лет назад
The extension table provides so much more space for you to move about. Especially if you are doing a full quilt. Helps to manuore about. So glad thia has helped you. Cassie.
@janiceconatser4741
@janiceconatser4741 3 года назад
Did she mean the thread strand rather than extension table? I am curious about the thread also.
@FaodailCreation
@FaodailCreation 3 года назад
Maybe I misread her comment. Sometimes I use a thread stand if the thread spool is too big or if I'm using my favorite holographic thread as that need to come off the coil vertically. I use the thread stand often, it's something I would recommend you get.

What thread weight do you use fot this free motion meander? And is your bobbin thread then the same weight?
@FaodailCreation
@FaodailCreation Год назад
Regular glide embroidery thread I think it's a 50 weight. I always use thr same weight in the top and bobbin thread. As that can cause issues with thread breaking and tension
@keribrown1679
@keribrown1679 2 года назад
I need help with tension. I get lots of loops on the bottom side
@FaodailCreation
@FaodailCreation 2 года назад
Most of the time it's just not threaded correctly. Make sure your needle is up when you thread. Also when was the last time you cleaned out the lint in your machine?
@diannagurnett4
@diannagurnett4 4 года назад
My soprano has tension issues when I set the machine up for free motion sewing. I have done all that you say but the tension is too lose on the top.
@FaodailCreation
@FaodailCreation 4 года назад
Then you thread the thread is your presser foot in the raised position? When the threads look messy on top it's usually a bobbin issue. Is your bobbing wound correctly. Then after that I would like you to clean out your bobbin area. I have a video on how to do that too. There could be some lint in there that is raising your bobbin up and causing the issue. Let me know how you get on.
