I think for free its great but the paid version is far too expensive and I wouldn't buy it. I like the concept that you start with a plank of wood and go from there. Honesty I only had a 30min go before doing the video. It didn't feel that hard to understand the basics. There are aspects I didn't look into such as events but the basics seem easy enough.

I wouldn't pay $60 for it either but the free version is certainly worth having a go on. Fully agree that the graphics are dated but it did mean it was a quick download and install at least.

I'd certainly say to try the free version as the only thing you lose is your time. As a free game its great. The biggest difference between the free and paid versions is that the amount of assets you can place down on the free version is limited. Even so with some thought small layouts can still be made. I'm not sure I'd say to purchase the full version though. The companies business plan is a little confusing as they give a bit too much for free but in my opinion their paid version isn't as good as other comparable paid games which can be cheaper. Older versions of Trainz go on sale frequently. Tane over Xmas was around £6 and Trainz 19 was only around £15 and both of those are better software. There's also other games such as Rolling line. This game lets you build stuff pretty much from scratch. It's not as real looking but you can build some pretty unique layouts. I've covered quite a few creative train games on the channel so on most you should get an idea what their like.

Personally wouldn't call it a demo as it's not limited enough to do so. It's not time locked, you can create as many maps as you wish and you have access to all the assets. It is limited enough that people might not want to play it though and the pro version is far too expensive so I agree that both versions appeal is limited. Personally I would price the pro version at around £15 and ditch the free version.

Hello. I can see why you might think there is a connection but I cannot any between the two games other than both are German titles. If you do want a definitive answer if assets were used there is a forum you ask the dev community.3d-modellbahn.de/forums Let me know what you find out :-)

It's certainly not bad for a free game. Wouldn't pay for the upgrade but the free version of certainly worth a try.

Ps: I'm not really into " Train Simulator's " ( IE actually simulating driving the train ) .. but me and my youngest daughter spent many happy hours creating our personalised layout . on " Create your own model railway" Ok yes, the graphics are a little cartoonish .. But I feel that is part of the games attraction.. Enjoy 😊 PPS: I still have the install disk ( but sadly can't locate it ) 😕 I still have backups of the layouts that I and my daughter created ❤ Inspired by this review I'm now keen to fire it up again asap, but not being able to locate my copy, ive just brought another " used " one, with the intent of seeing if it will run on Linux ( in steam )

Fully agree. It's barmy to give as much of the game away for free as they do and then charge the amount they charge to unlock the rest. Far better to loose the free tier and then charge a sensible price for the whole game.

@sysOpModular: Your statement makes no sense. There is no object limit for the paid version, and if you are going to need less than 150 objects ... what is your problem with "buying" the free version?

Yeah... Tried very hard to get a copy. I emailed the dev and the publisher and also requested a key via keymailer. All of which were ignored. Looks interesting and would have been good for the channel. Oh well.

@@bluewizard Might just be too far away from a working Beta to release anything. As with many of these titles, semi-vaporware until the actual release. This could end up being dropped. Hope everything is good with you otherwise. Best Wishes.

The channel's too small. I've managed to get very few games via Keymailer. Most Devs just ignore the request. Some Devs such as Dovetale (train sim) have gone one step further and fully denied my request. Not sure which I prefer... to have my game request ignored or denied lol. It's business and Devs only have so many Steam keys to give away. They will always choose larger channels first. It's not something I take personally. I'm pretty sure the game will come out. It's from the same Devs as car mechanic I believe. Looking at their website they actually have a fair few other games out too. Who knows if it's cheap maybe I'll buy it. Whether it appears in the channel . Who knows. Maybe it'll be terrible haha. Away from YT everything is good. Decorated my daughter's room this week. Took blooming ages as I took some walls down and did a few other things. Shes happy though so all's good 😁 Hope all's good with you too 😀

Its been a year since I played this game so I can't quite remember. You can certainly control the trains and I'm fairly sure you can go on board but I don't think you can drive them in the sense of there are controls in the dashboard to use. It is a fairly simple game.

train frontier classic is an old game and should work on pretty much anything. You could try to restart your PC to see if it works. But ultimately if it doesn't work and you've only just purchased it, Steam normally will refund

What I find "not nice" is when someone who clearly hasn't watched a video leaves a comment suggesting I have been untruthful. I say and show on screen the limitations of this game within the first 30seconds of the video!!! Later in the video I also show how to best use the limited amount of assets to get the most out of the game. If you'd watched you would have known that!

@@bluewizard I did download & try the game, but I'm still struggling to do anything with it (maybe it's an age thing) I was going to try Trainz, but I don't know, it's sort of put me off.

This game does have allot of little issues. Most of its documentation is in German, I noticed some of the assets didn't quite work as they should and the graphics are... shall we say not current. For a free game I can certainly put these things aside and I suspect I actually found it fun simply learning how it works. As a paid game it is not something I would recommend at all. There are simply better games out there. There are other train games out there that let you create a route and then control a train Here's 2 vids that go though some of them. It's not quite there yet but I can see the devs are working on it. It's available on Steam. A game that for me isn't a great train game but is very simple to play is called "Model Rail Easily". I don't like it on PC as it's a glorified Android game but it is easy to get started with. Again it's on Steam. If you have an Android device check it out there first as it's free (You then pay for assets). On Pc I think it's around £15. As for Trainz if you decide to buy it, I would recommend doing so via Steam. If you buy it directly they will not give refunds unless you get the disk version. Steam does have a refund policy where you normally get a few hours to test it and can normally ask for a refund within that time if you don't like it. I would double check this is the case for Trainz though before buying as they may still have their own license and refuse a refund. The price is normally the same buying it on Steam and directly on the Trainz site. The game will be the same. You also should make sure your PC can handle Trainz 19 as it requires quite a high CPU/GPU to run. If not you could try TANE. The graphics aren't as good but the gameplay is exactly the same. Trainz does have a steep learning curve but the forums are in English and there're many vids on YT showing how to play it. If you have a look at my Big Build series. Ep 1 does go though the basics.
