You saved me sir. I had tried everything but the browser still did not recognize the certificate, watching your video I could understand that what was missing was the damn CA Bundle, now everything is 100%. Hugs from Brazil, thank you!
Cloudflare is recommended for international website traffic. From my experience cloudready slows down sites with many requests report. I prefer buying the lifetime SSL from hostinger for $10 only or using the Let's encrypt SSL for free renewable every 90 days. Thank Emit 🙂
hey thanks for the clear video! Always the best ! Regarding the CABundle, it looks like it is no longer available on Cloudlfare, has it moved somewhere else?
UPDATE: You would need to download the file "Cloudflare Origin ECC PEM (do not use with Apache cPanel) or Cloudflare Origin RSA PEM" and open with notepad, copy that and install :)
Though you can go to your cPanel and click on Cloudflare and provision it with CNAME records instead. The only difference is that you would need to manage DNS in your cPanel instead of Cloudflare.
Quick note - tested this on 12/09/2020: After choosing Your SSL/TLS encryption mode as Flexible in the overview tab, go to the Edge Certificates table to enable ALWAYS USE HTTPS
Hey, wait a second.... This put CloudFlare in the middle of your SSL connections, and they can now sniff ALL your traffic.... CloudFlare sets up 2 SSL connection; One from the client and one to the web server. They sit in the middle of these 2 SSL connections, where the traffic is NOT encrypted... (This is the way a lot of so-called "VPN" services operate...)
Original registrar. Make sure to point the domain to Hostinger and during cloudflare setup itll "snapshot" the IP address and once you change the nameservers to cloudflare itll still go to hostinger just through cloudways
I'm getting an error saying my site isn't pointing to there servers which is false. Do I need to change back to original host 🤔 then change back after hostinger allows me access or maybe my server hasn't uploaded completely yet I do recall you saying wait 15min twice 🤔
I need SSL because I am hosting my own site and my ISP blocks port 80, so when it will attempt to scan my site, unless it's going on port 443 which isn't configured because I have no SSL in the first place, how will I ever get an SSL? Do I have to pay for a hosting service for one month just to get access to an inbound port 80 so my site can be scanned, then I can move everything back? Hosting my own website is a pain in the ass, but I have the equipment and tons of ram and processor power, my host was charging for a garbage system with almost no ram and little space.
Brother.. can you make a video on cloud hosting pros and cons And also suggest some good hosting providers that provides cloud hosting and also compare their features wrt their proces.. Thanks in advance..
Already doing tests on cloud hosting plans. So, the video will come once I have enough data about who's the best. For now, I recommend you check out Cloudways (premium plans) and Hostinger (cheap alternative). In short, cloud hosting will always be more powerful than shared hosting plans, the biggest pro is that it's easy to scale if you need more resources you don't need to buy another plan, you can add more resources to your existing plan. The biggest con is the price :) Check out some discounts on cloud hosting here emit.reviews/go/cloudways-2020 (3 day free trial) emit.reviews/go/hostinger-2020 (10% off using EMITREVIEWS)
Hey, I'm stuck I cannot access my Wordpress panel after activating cloudfare flexible SSL. I got the little green tick but when I try to access Wordpress log in page I am greeted by Origin DNS error. Which says that I have tried to access a site that is on the cloudfare network and Cloudflare is currently unable to resolve your requested domain What do I do now?
that supscription says: This package is ideal for people with personal or hobby projects that aren't business-critical. does that mean its not a great option if you do have a business critical website ?
It's enough in my experience. They just want for you to buy their service. In most cases the certificate you get is identical, they just give you other tools as well
@@Emit.Reviews oke thanks, i have an other problem. i cant find the right add-on, on prestashop( the website creator i use) someone who can help me with this?
I've successfully added a CloudFlare certificate to my website, but the number of visitors has suddenly dropped, awkwardly dropped. Does this normally happen? I use Google Analytics for details on visitors.
@@antoniogiroz Since Cloudways already has free certificates available I would use those. But I would still configure cloudflare for the CDN part of things (so you get better international loading speed). For that you just need to point the name servers, no need for the plugin or choosing SSL method in cloudflare.
All of the changes need to be made on the original provider. But before starting just make sure that the domain is already pointing to hostinger. That way clousflare can snapshot the IP
I already have my Godaddy DNS pointing somewhere else. This is going to be confusing for me and the client. She think her hosting is Godaddy and now we have to point to Cloudfare??
Cloudflare "saves" or "snapshots" your current DNS settings and reroutes them through their servers. When logging in to cloudflare youll always see the original destinations and youll be able to edit them inside cloudflare at all times.
Cloudflare snapshots your MX records, it only acts like a middle man. It all should br good but if this ever changes u will be ablr to edit your MX records within cloudflare and still keep the ssl
Hi Emit, is this solution working for non-wordpress sites? I don't know how to get pass the "Really simple SSL" plugin step, as I obviously can't install a wordpress plugin on my webiste. Thank you!
It does work, what really simple ssl does it just adds a few lines of code into the website files. Meaning it "forces" an https connection. You can add this cide yourself
I did exactly as explained. The site was down for a couple of minutes then it started working perfectly and the browser showed the Lock icon. However, next morning, all my devices (another PC, iPhone, iPad) started showing the "ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR" error. No matter what I did the site refused to open. I tried asking other people to try it, they could not get it to open. The only way I was able to get it to work is by using a VPN. The site worked perfectly when I use VPN, once I stop it, I see the "ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR" error. Could you please give my an insight! My web host is godaddy and it does not come with a cpanel access. Thanks
Hmmm very unique problem. Could you email me your website name? Emit@emit.reviews I could take a look and maybe find something. Since its working with a VPN that means the system is working, just that GoDaddy is blacklisting some IPs it seems
I watch your video every second and i saw at the end my domain name automatically encrypted and showing Expire at - Never ,. I can't see any options to paste origin certificate and private key in my hPanel
SSL management is a standard feature of cPanel, but if your host is using a modded version it might be called something else. Anyways it should be in the SSL/TLS section.
@@Emit.Reviews Thanks for replying. I went to SSL/TLS on my cPanel the only options I get are PRIVATE KEYS (KEY), CERTIFICATE SIGNING REQUESTS (CSR), and CERTIFICATE SIGNING REQUESTS (CSR) below that there is nothing
Nope, it just fixes an issue you might run into with redirects when using the flexible version, you can safely remove it once the Full encryption takes place.
Good video but after following the process of installing an SSL my site is still showing the "not secure" sign while the cloud flare is showing the active sign, what might be the problem
Maybe it says "Not FULLY secure" there could be an issue with mixed content if you're using Elementor. That means some of the website elements are using HTTPS and some are using HTTP (images for example)
@@Emit.Reviews thank you for your reply, I am using Elementor but I have deactivated it and today it is showing the padlock symbol, but you said it right about Elementor, thank you.
need help regarding SSL certificate because my domain is with another account and hosting account is different that's why i am not able to install the certificate please help me resolve this issue.
In this case you wont. Since Cloudflare still goes through your original nameservers. It just makes a "stop" inbetween cloudflare servers to verify traffic. Cloudflare acts like a middle man between point A and point B, it doesnt become a new point B
@@shemgrumo311 However you are correct that in most cases if you change your nameservers to other provider you also need too make sure your MX RECORDS (in the same DNS area) are updated with new values as well! Cloudflare is just a unique case :P
Add a code line that forces HTTPS connection instead of HTTP. So everyone who enters using www. or HTTP will automatically be redirected to the secure HTTPS version.
after cloudflare showing active... after installing those 2 plugins .... even in incognito window i am not able to see SSL ...and more over i am unable to open my admin page too and its showing "This site can’t provide a secure connection..." what could be the problem .. please help us... thank you .... really amazing video...
You are basically moving your DNS and name servers from your domain or hosting site, to CloudFlare servers, so they can monitor your traffic and sell your data. More complicated. Unfortunately, nothing is really free. Cool.
@@Emit.Reviews Thanks for your quick reply... 1 more question- I am currently using SSL ZEN free version. Do I need to do anything special to transer from that to CloudFlare---or just follow these instruction?
@@Emit.Reviews Thanks...it is kind of strange..i went from flexible to full following your instructions and now i get this : www.dropbox.com/s/n021rhi36boc9rt/Screenshot%202020-11-29%20at%2018.09.46.png?dl=0 like the website is Your connection is not private maybe it would be better if i just left it on flexible or does it make any difference? thanks for your help ...just subscribed too
after activating Really Simple SSL this error code still persists after a few hours. SSL_ERROR_INTERNAL_ERROR_ALERT it been hours and i cant access my wp admin page. What should i do? :(
This error is usually caused by multiple DNS configurations (meaning you're redirecting your IP to multiple places at once. Check if your provider doesn't have any additional entries in the DNS, maybe the nameserver update didn't go through)
Not to my knowledge. The way it works is that you always have to keep renewing or the domain goes "back into the public pool". In case someone else wants to use it if you don't need it.
The free certificates that are self signed are not transferable, you would have to apply an SSL certificate for free again on your new host. If you have a Wildcard or Comodo SSL you can transfer those.
This most likely means that you've created a loop and pointed Cloudflare to an IP that's already pointing to Cloudflare. Make sure your IP address isnt being redirected before this.
@@Emit.Reviews In fact, I'm going to use this free service as a paid service for websites of companies. In your opinion, how much should I charge them per SSL certificate?
The steps are generally the same except for using a Wordpress plugin to active the SSL, you would need to do it by typing in a couple of lines of code into your website files. So you would force an HTTPS connection instead of the HTTP one.
@@Emit.Reviews Is there instruction on that somewhere? I also do not use Wordpress...I hand code or use Dreamweaver. Your video is AWESOME by the way - I will subscribe.
@@Emit.Reviews Could you help me with something else? i've tryed as you've done, but now my domain seems to be without a hosting, should i change cloudsflare DNS from my domain provider (also hostinguer) or should i change something from from cloudflare? Thank you
